The nicest & best looking RIR’s we ever had came from Mrs. Rosalyn at Lucky Pickens farm. My understanding is she sold her flock. I only have two old roosters and one old hen too old to lay left. I was hoping someone that had some that came from her might have some hatching eggs to mail or...
I always hatch a chick or pick one up at the feedstore b/c the turkeys will watch the chick eating and follow suit. It saves me lots of time trying to teach them to drink and eat.
Last year I bought bourbon reds and royal palms at the same time from the same hatchery. They were in the same brooder pen. At about 6 weeks the bourbon reds all died off one by one. I still have the royal palms. I was afraid to buy any this year. They are beautiful birds that I was looking...
There is one about an hour from here. Has anyone bought any feed from Tyson? If so what did you buy? I can't find feed mills near me am looking for a less expensive option. OMG my turkeys eat a lot plus I have a bunch of chickens too.
One or two of my hens is laying an egg with the specks. I don't bother to pick it out. Should I? It isn't dirt & it doesn't affect the taste so I don't.
When subscribe to a post and receive an email notification, in the past a click would lead to the first post since I last visited. Now it is going to the 1st post in the thread, not to page 60 etc. How do I fix that?
I have the chance to get some peanut bran super cheap - like $3.50 a bag cheap. It is rice bran and peanut pieces mixed together. It is being sold as deer feed here. Peanut bits/pieces/leavings mixed with rice bran. Sure beats the $16 a bag I am paying for layer feed if it is ok.
I occasionally borrow ideas from this lady. I bet her kids eat ANYTHING she is so talented. I don't have the creativity she does but have done quite a few of the things she posted http://www.cutefoodforkids.com/ I also use it for the school parties. We did the marshmallow snowmen one.

I have frozen it before if you need super-duper easy...flash frozen in ziplock bags flat on a cookie sheet, when frozen stack and place those in larger size ziplock in freezer to they are double bagged.
The best part of stock for me is that it is such a valuable & versatile pantry staple yet it is made using my kitchen scraps & meat we would otherwise discard.
