Barred Rock rooster extremely ill after MITE and LICE infestation

also, i checked out the link and no, it doesn't appear to be a worm. It was a rubber like substance that was inside his eyelid and covered his whole eye. His eye is open today, after getting the stuff out of it last evening, but his eye still looks clouded...

Barred Rock rooster extremely ill after MITE and LICE infestation

Hi, thanks for your reponse! I was so confused when I saw you say something about mice, then realized i typed in MICE instead of MITES! No worries though. :) Have you used Poultry Nutri-Drench? I was reading that it could give them a pretty quick boost. If I can get him to be better...

Have 12 week old chickens, but have lost 5 in the last 2 weeks suddenly

not sure what is happening at all. Hatched 15 baby chicks, and at 12 weeks I only now have 4 left. 1 died of an injury at only a couple of weeks old, but the rest have died suddenly at different times since then. Have been putting vitamin powder in their water on and off, along with apple...

Help! My Silkie can't stand up and throws her head back when laying down

I need some help. I let my Silkie and her 4 coop friends out to free range on Friday and she was fine. Saturday when my son went to let them out he said that the Silkie was walking like she was drunk and couldn't stand up without tipping over and catching herself with her wing. I went out...

INCUBATING w/FRIENDS! w/Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs No problem!

I can attest to that stmt. I was unable to have children and adopted a boy. He is now almost 16. He was 7 when we adopted him, was from a neglect and abuse situation, so dealing with those initial teachings have been difficult to overcome, but we work on it every day. Bless you for not...

INCUBATING w/FRIENDS! w/Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs No problem!

isn't that the truth! We currently have 7 in an 8x16x8 coop wrapped in hardware cloth. Built a cover in the back around the roost, sand boxes for bathing, and a pole with multi levels of roosts for enjoyment during the day. Not to mention the darn chicken swing that they won't get on...lol...

Sponsored Post I'm incubating - what do I do if the power goes out?

We had a power outage during my current (1st) hatch at 5 days in from 6:50 pm to 7:30 am the next morning. We didn't have a UPS. I have a Brinsea Mini Advance so it's too small to put water bottles in like I have read others do. I realized I had one of those portable car battery jump...

INCUBATING w/FRIENDS! w/Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs No problem!

Thanks everyone for the replies. I hope everything turns out well in the hatch. Of the 15 , I have 4 Ameraucanas, 4 Delaware, 4 Barred Rock and 3 Black Australorps. I was expecting only an 80 to 90% hatch, but so far I'm at 100% (if you don't count the infertile egg that was discarded). Good...

Bought 16 from a local farm, turned out 1 was infertile, but all others have been growing steadily. When candling last night before placing...
