Same here! I figured I needed some high production layers with my other girls so I got 2 of them. So far they are very sweet and in the middle of the pecking order. One had a squabble over some frozen corn but that’s it.
I assume they’ll lay around when a RIR or BA would lay but there is...

I’m excited! A local radio show has invited me to be on their show to discuss the benefits of backyard chicken keeping and want the Guests of Honor to be my chickens!!! The radio show is also video taped and put on YouTube.
So....should I bring a couple of my friendliest girls? I have 4...
Okay, here’s one for you. 11 weeks old tomorrow. Feather pattern just like my buff EE I had previously that I worried was a cockerel until she laid a pretty turquoise egg.

Your birds are gorgeous! One of my other ones, the Welsummer jumped on my back when I was raking the run...lol...but I think I was just in her way.
The Easter Egger of my last flock (all killed by a neighbor dog) was also the top bird in the pecking order and let me handle her a lot. She was...
I’m so excited! Three times now my Ameraucana, Sansa has surprised me and jumped right into my lap while I was sitting in the chicken run. I’ve been hand raising my new flock and they are all pretty tame so far. They are 11 weeks old this week and doing well.
I have been sitting in a plastic...
Hi! I’ve had chickens for 3.5 years. My first flock of 9 were all killed by a neighbor dog back in Feb this year. Have a new mixed flock of 10.5 week olds.
I read somewhere at the beginning of my chickenkeeping journey that dry leaves on a dirt run mimick the forest floor, the natural habitat...
Thank you! She is 10.5 weeks old and it’s been just like this for a month now. The Buff Brahma has it in more places.
I was thinking juvenile molt but not sure.
