I finally remembered to grab a photo of my juvenile porcelain roo. He's an odd little bird and flies all over like crazy. Here he is hiding in the hay barn. I would have tried to get a better photo, but after the camera went off, he took off flying back to his pen.
It's a full-sized bird.
I will try and get a better photo this evening when I get home. I would have done better yestersday, but, as I mentioned, they were pretty stressed out and I didn't want to bother them more than I had to.
My co-worker had a rooster get into her back yard numerous times over the weekend. They kept putting him back over the 8' privacy fence, but he kept returning. Their terrier would go after him so they had to keep putting the dog up and locking the doggie door. Yesterday the rooster showed up...
Aw thanks!! Woo hoo!!
Thanks for the compliments on my girl. I just love her!! She is actually a hatchery chick I picked up out of a bin at TSC. She and 2 other Sebright chicks were looking a bit ill and I felt sorry for them. The other 2 did not survive. One actually was hung in the...
Thank you! I just love her.
Your mille fleur roo has much better color than mine. Mine does not have enough white, but I'm hoping he grows a bit more as he matures.
This is my Sebright hen. I believe about she was 4ish months old in this picture. She is just the sweetest chicken and follows me around (when I let her range) making the cutest little bird noises and giving me quizzical looks when I talk to her. Edited to add that I purchased her.
She looks like my 2 Ancona girls, so I vote girl. My Anconas dont' have the curved tail, but I did hatch several EE hens this year that I thought were roosters because of the tail curving. Nope, they are hens.
I had posted some time back that I was worried because my Mottled hen was taking forever to feather out. Well, she is finally starting to look like a normal chicken, so I thought I would post a new photo of her. I tried to get photos of my black and buff, but they were running around like...
Oh, I'm certain he is not show quality. He's hatchery that I grabbed out of a bin at TSC to fill their minimum chick order. I was after the Sebrights and bantam Cochins...lol.
He had jumped ship out of his pen and was set on not being caught, so he was sitting on a piece of OSB that I have...
Here is my young D'Uccle roo. He just started crowing, so I'm hoping as he matures more, he will get more white.
I still have my porcelain roo that is 2 months younger, but he's just not attractive at the moment..lol. I think he is going to live with Hdowden possibly.
Thanks! Yes, I think I'm going to have to hold on to them for a bit longer to see how they play out. I took a hard look at the white and black one with red yesterday and if that is a hen, she is the tallest hen I have ever seen. From the body up, she looks hen, but man those legs are long.
I think she had a tad less color, but other than that looked very much like yours. I think that's why I had pegged her as a roo from early on..lol. Let me go through my pics and I will see if I have some other younger photos of her. To me, your little one has a feminine face, but that's not...
She looked like this- front row, 3rd chick from left, next to the mottled cochin and white ee) Actually, all of the juveniles I posted photos of are in this photo as babies. My sweet broody there took some bantam chicks on as well as the EEs she hatched herself. I lost 2 of the Sebrights and...
Thanks you guys! She loves bread, she's like a crack-fiend for it. Cucumbers are good in her book too, but not as good as bread..lol. She is very nice to all the chickens in her pen, but one of my free range guys ran in behind me the other day and she was all up in their face and bumping...
Thank you very much!! I had been trying to go by the comb, but then the black one started growing those curved tail feathers and I was all confused because they looked like a roo tail. I have another black ee too and I think her tail is starting to grow in some curved feathers as well. I may...
