AH Haa! Found her pile of eggs!

My 7 month Easter Egger has been laying for a couple weeks very sporadically, and not always in the nest box. I just figured she was young and it's winter so 1 or 2 eggs a week was ok. But I have also been keeping my eye out in the yard in case she was laying outside....and today I spotted her...

Naughty rooster... Suggestions please? *Pic on p4*

sent my naughty Roo to the auction last weekend. It's SO nice to be able to walk around outside without worrying about getting attacked. I just wish I had done it sooner!!!! And he was a good Roo with the hens, took good care of them......but they don't seem to miss him at all.

    will a broody?

my broody sat on an egg that never developed. I took it and cracked it open a day or so after all the other eggs hatched and it was just goo inside. My other broody sat on an egg that was bad till after the others hatched and then kicked that egg out of the nest.

    Grumpy Hubby

oh yeah, the money I spend on these critters make my hubby grumpy too. The roos aren't TOO noisy, yet. A couple of them have started to crow, but they don't do it very often. The older 'dad' Roo is the loudest, he crows all the time - but he is going to be the first to go because he is also...

    Grumpy Hubby

LOL, right..we don't need any more Roos. I have homes for 2 of them and once the folks decide which ones they want then the rest will be heading to auction........or the freezer if I get brave enough to do the deed. Where do you go for auction justbugged? We are in the Olympia area and I know...

    Grumpy Hubby

We started our chicken experience last Spring with 5 hens and 2 Roos. This Spring we were down to 2 hens and 1 Roo (due to predators and Sudden unexplained dead chicken syndrome). So when one of my hens went broody this Spring I let her hatch 6 eggs...........5 of which have turned into Roos. We...

Re introduced broody being picked on

I had the same thing happen with my bantam Cochin....... everyone else picked on her when I put her back with the rest. That was about 6 weeks ago and she now is basically a loner when they are out free ranging. I feel bad for her.

Will my broody adopt mail order chicks?

my broody just hatched out 6 chicks. We got another chick from the neighbor and added it in......yesterday all seemed well. Today though she started pecking the new addition. So, give it a try and see what happens...hopefully she'll take them, unlike mine.

    blue-green egg

Thanks! I couldn't find any other info. on Shetlands, but it was interesting to read up on the Legbars. I have a mixed breed hen laying blue green eggs. I figured she would be considered an EE, but just wanted to see if there was any other options. sorry........I should have looked at the...

    skittish llamas

I recently adopted 2 llamas from a rescue group. I am new to llamas and am wondering the best way to build up their trust of me. (I believe they were neglected.......not abused) They will eat from my hand (standing as far away as possible) if I have something yummy, but if I make any move to...

Flyers....time to clip the wing feathers

I probably should trim some feathers too....... but I really like watching them fly up onto the garage........the barn..........the tree. It makes me laugh.......and I need that. Next Spring, when they start destroying my garden.....I'll have to decide.....laughter or fresh veggies.....hmmmm
