I feared so. Haha. They are handsome. I don't know how we will decide who gets to stay. I am afraid they will hurt other is we have too many drakes.

    Muscovy gender at 2 & 3 months

Thank you. I will need to figure out how to mark the blues to keep them seperate. They are starting to interact with my two confirmed drakes on the outside of the fence. They react the same to Huey and Louie as my four hens do. I am learning so much about them. They are interesting creatures!

    Muscovy gender at 2 & 3 months

I watched the wing feathers and there were four that feathered faster on the blues and blacks and were smaller, but now they are all the same size and looks so similar! I wasn't sure when to start watching for caruncles either. I also got 4 "1.5 y/o hens" who are tiny! Only one lays eggs so...

I isolated mine because the rest were terrified of him. They were young enough reintroducing him wasn't too stressful.

@yoopergirl1211 appears so. If you youtube angel wing figure 8 you shoukd be able to see how to fix it. We repaired our duck in 3 days. We let him out of the bandage for about an hour a day. And he is great now. You can't tell it was an issue at all.

This is our very first batch. At this point we are just waiting for them to hit maturity. We may start selling in the spring. The babies and my 4 hens come from a different bloodlines so we have worked to set things up for breeding. I think I see at least two lavenders, some blues, 2 whites and...

    Muscovy gender at 2 & 3 months

First time Muscovy mom here. I currently have 7 at 3 months and 10 at 2 months. The blues and blacks are the older ducks. The lavender and chocolates are the younger. Of the older ducks, they are all the same basic size and of the younger, there is a blue barred who I believe to be a drake but...

How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

39 chicken eggs and 3 turkey eggs yesterday. Today way down to 19 chicken and up to 4 turkeys. This constant "severe" rain is making for a bunch of very wet, very muddy, very unhappy chickens! I can't wait for spring!

How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I am hoping to construct mine this week or next, Maybe do some fall type crops in it and then do a hoop house over the top. I will be doing the "chicken salad" type mix. We don't get a lot of freezing weather here, so I just have to keep it from washing away in the rain. Hopefully by spring I...

How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I have found these cute little raised "garden" boxes on Pinterest that I want to try to get more grass in my coop. This is the photo I found. It seems like a great way to get vegetation in the coop while protecting the roots enough to grow!

How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

33 chicken eggs and 2 turkey eggs, still a big fat ZERO for my quail. Also with a new EE laying. YAY Yesterday was 31 chicken and 3 turkeys and ZERO for my quail. They may just not be my thing!

What do you have in your flock?

I have had complete opposite luck! I had leghorns previously and they were basket cases :) Beautiful but crazy. My Wyandottes, don't like to be picked up and held like my orpingtons or my speckled sussex (as long as the SS are not on a nest, then they are FEISTY), but they are always right near...

    Java Thread

Thank you. It was the first time I had noticed them on a hen. I just wasn't sure because I had heard they are slow to mature, I just didn't know how slow, slow was. Thank you!

Thank you Junebuggena! I was hoping that was the case. When I heard slow to mature, I wasn't sure what that meant. She is super sweet! I just am getting ready to cull and didn't want to make a mistake! That explains why the roos pay no attention to her! Thank you!

What do you have in your flock?

Wyandottes come in so many beautiful colors! I currently have, silver laced, gold laced and blue red laced. I will be adding a couple more SL's and a few Columbians.

Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

Here we go! 39.5 week old Mottled Java, the roosters pay no attention to, never have spotted "her" in the coop during the day, only on a perch after dark, shy, super easy keeper... But male or female?
