He ripped off his bean? I would separate him for now, away from the other ducks, and put some Neosporin or triple antibiotic on it (make sure it doesnt have painkiller in it). Ive never heard of that happening!
Dont let her sit on eggs again if you suspect she's eating the eggs. Sounds like you had incubation issues, which usually means shes a bad broody anyways. So sorry!
Someone brought me a number of OEGB mix cockerels. He gave me money for taking them, but I dont have the room to keep them all, nor do I have much use for mix breed roosters at this time.
Ive got seven of them, all around 3 months old. Some have straight combs, some have pea (maybe rose) combs...
I run a bird rescue, and I've also seen cases of birds being colorist. One different colored bird in a flock can get picked on, because its different. Just like high school, lol. May have to get her another white duck hen to bond with so she's not alone. I would assume that after making sure...
Separate her from everyone. Birds go after blood. Keep her in a kennel, preferably inside, with some triple antibiotic ointment (WITHOUT pain relief) on the wounds after cleaning them. I'd also check her out for any illnesses. Instinct is to kill off the weak to protect the rest of the flock...
When you reach your hand into the brooder from above and they run for cover, they're simply following instinct. They think your hand is a hawk. When you're on the floor with them, you're reaching at them more towards their level.
I've got two ee's, a cockerel and a pullet. When they mature, I want to breed them because they're both the same coloring and both are docile and quiet. Wont let me post pics, but they look brown and red mottled/barred. The male has slate legs and the female pink legs with a slight slate wash...
It seems like she isn't growing. The littlest one is her, and one of the other black ones is a same age silkie from the same clutch. I think that's what its called.
I have a silkie chick that is maybe 2 weeks at most. She (maybe)is very tiny, doesnt really mix in with the rest of the flock (one other silkie, a buff orpington, and 3 americauna). She still gets pasty butt, though I've tried the yogurt with chick crumble, and clean her two or three times a...
Also, try to handle her as little as possible, aside from helping her right herself. Two days ago mine was laying on its back and holding its leg out, now she just seems kinda tired but she's walking on it.
Im super new to this, but my week old blue silkie was doing the leg splay too. Its not from the bedding, but she's doing alright now. I think if your chick is eating and drinking she should be okay. Just watch her. The leg sounds like its sprained. Make sure to clean any wounds you find...
