Our girls are now about 10 weeks old, and are doing well. They free range in our yard which is not all grass, and have some wild brush/tree areas and some sandy areas for them to hang out.
My questions are: Do I still need to provide grit? All they seem to do with the chick grit is dump it...
yeah- they keep knocking down the barrier I have erected to keep them out of the nesting area so I'm going to have to do something much sturdier for the next couple of months.
So after getting 3 straight run chicks, we are down to 2 hens. This is ok for us because we live in an urban area and are just starting out; we will most likely add another hen sometime next year.
My question: our prefab coop is tiny...and the nesting box with the divider making 2 boxes is...

Let me know what you think they are!!
I bought what I was told were Golden Comet chicks but now they look EXACTLY like cornish rock chicks-the white ones. I have no clue what to do with them-and am upset because I wanted laying hens. What do I do with them now? I didn't want meat birds and I've heard these are terrible layers and...
I bought 3 day old chicks straight run and they are now almost 5 weeks old. I was told that one was a RIR and the other 2 were Golden Comets and newbie that I am, I totally forgot my reading that Golden Comets are sex linked, in which case I have 2 roosters as they were both light yellow...
Hey! I'm new to chicken keeping and am looking for a smaller breed-how big are your girls? Are the BSL's a larger bird? I have limited space and don't want to crowd them. Thanks for your help!
