    couple of questions

Our girls are now about 10 weeks old, and are doing well. They free range in our yard which is not all grass, and have some wild brush/tree areas and some sandy areas for them to hang out. My questions are: Do I still need to provide grit? All they seem to do with the chick grit is dump it...

    nesting boxes

So after getting 3 straight run chicks, we are down to 2 hens. This is ok for us because we live in an urban area and are just starting out; we will most likely add another hen sometime next year. My question: our prefab coop is tiny...and the nesting box with the divider making 2 boxes is...

Family Vent - Sorry, this is long, but I really need to air it.

HIPPO Just a thought but have you looked into a compost toilet? You could have water coming in but wouldn't need a septic for the bathroom. And also, can you sell your trailer parcel & get away from those toxic in-laws??

    Cornish rock hens??

Thanks everyone!! I think I've already found a home for the cockerel...he can not stay! And I think what most likely happened was that someone bred 2 Golden Comets so what I have is whatever the grandparents were...which could be any white bird hopefully a good layer.

    Cornish rock hens??

This is them...especially the one in the back with the red comb. They are about 5 weeks. The red comb one is being very bossy and chasing my other 2 chicks around. Let me know what you think they are!!

    Cornish rock hens??

I bought what I was told were Golden Comet chicks but now they look EXACTLY like cornish rock chicks-the white ones. I have no clue what to do with them-and am upset because I wanted laying hens. What do I do with them now? I didn't want meat birds and I've heard these are terrible layers and...

    chick legs...spurs

I bought 3 day old chicks straight run and they are now almost 5 weeks old. I was told that one was a RIR and the other 2 were Golden Comets and newbie that I am, I totally forgot my reading that Golden Comets are sex linked, in which case I have 2 roosters as they were both light yellow...

Black sex link thread!!! Pics and info!

Hey! I'm new to chicken keeping and am looking for a smaller breed-how big are your girls? Are the BSL's a larger bird? I have limited space and don't want to crowd them. Thanks for your help!

New in FL questions about a metal shed coop

Hello all! I'm so excited to start this new adventure. I just need advice on a coop. I plan on keeping 3-4 bantam hens and want to use our metal shed as a coop. It has a concrete foundation and is in good shape. The plan is to take off the doors, and a panel from each side and cover with...
