Usually in the 80s. I wouldn't let them walk around if it was 60 degrees. I am just trying to see if it is okay to do that. Like can their stomachs handle it.
Hello everyone!
I am new to chicks, although I have had chickens before, but I have a question about letting them wonder around supervised. They are about 5 days old now, and I am wondering at what age, if I am watching them, can I let them walk around in the grass and in the garden a bit.
Thank...
That's what I have heard! And that is why, this time I am going to add a roost in the run. In case they get in a little bit of a squabble, it also adds somewhere for them to go, if they cant be let out just then.
Interesting. Thank you! I am looking for good egg layers, but I also want a Silkie as I have heard good things about them. And they are so darn cute, too! But I don't know if it is worth the risk of it getting picked on...
Okay. So I am wondering if I did get all 5, and then I soon notice pecking, and the breeder would take the Silkie back, if that would be a good idea. Or if just sticking with 4 would be a better idea.... I don't know . Thanks for your help!
Okay. Yes, that is the thing. I don't have the chicks yet, so I don't know their personalities. They might be pecking each other constantly, and they might get along just fine. But is that something I would notice right away? Or does it take some weeks?
Okay. Yes, I guess my biggest question is do they need much space in the coop area? The nesting boxes are attached on the back. Because I feel like if it is a bit crowded at night, but then they have tons of room throughout the daytime, it wouldn't be a big deal.. But it might be? I live in...
Yep! We let the free range basically every day. Right now we don't have any, but we are getting chicks this Thursday. And I was wanting to add a Silkie to the flock, but I have a feeling she would be picked on if they were over crowded. Thats why I wanted to add some extra run room. We'll see...
Hello!
So I am trying to figure out if I could add one more chicken into my coop without crowding the chickens. So our coop is 6' 1" long, and 4' 1" wide. And the henhouse is 3' 7" long and also 4' 1" wide. Does each chicken NEED 4 sqft in the henhouse? I know that people say like 10 sqft per...
