I know this is an old thread, but I never thought it would be possible to hatch an egg that had been in the refrigerator, so I tried it with one. It hatched! I researched more information about it and found the study below to be pretty interesting. I pulled some eggs from the refrigerator and...
I just recently bought chicks from a reputable breeder, (not a hatchery). They asked if I would like them vaccinated for Marek's. though I've never vaccinated any of my other chicks that I've hatched in the last 5 years, I thought what could it hurt?
I think that I made a mistake in doing that...
I can tell you from my experience that if I could do it all again, I would NEVER, EVER buy another adult bird to add to my flock, especially from AUCTIONS. It just isn't worth the risk. It's a good idea to start with chicks for several health reasons, but also because they make for a nicer flock...
I also found blood and intestinal/hamburgurish looking droppings in one of my new growout pens. I have two other pens next to this one.
I have switched there feed and it is a higher protein. My husband picked it up for me and didn't think to check that and I needed it badly. Could that have...
thanks for replying. The vet put him on antibiotics and wormed him too. He's feeling much better now and was running around today when my hubby checked on him.
What is this? We just got these pigs last night at an auction and thought it was just roughed up some by other pigs, but I'm pretty sure it has to be something else to it. Please help if you're experienced at keeping pigs.
BEAUTIFUL egg! Just what I want!

Pretty hens!
I just got a bantam wheaten AM roo and he's the only bantam that I have. I don't know if he would be able to breed my big girls. Anyone have luck crossing their bantam roos to a LF hen? It would be a miracle if he was able to. I guess it...
I also like the speckled eggs. Have only ever had one Welsummer and her eggs weren't as spotted like the ones you are referring to. I want some of those medium brown with bigger brown speckles too! I used to have coturnix quail and their little eggs were that same pattern.
I just bought a...
I'm looking to buy some true Ameraucana and I'm located between Clarion and DuBois, PA (NW PA).
I would like to add some blue eggs to my basket and breed some more olive eggers too.
I am hoping to find some wheaten or blue wheaten, but let me know what you have. I am also very interested in...
I have one hen that is buff with black flecks in her tail and some black in her neck feathers. I also have one with a partridge pattern. I have two more green egg layers, but I have never caught them in the act, so I'm not sure who it is. One EE is probably greyish white and black. She has a pea...
I bred my BCM roo to my EE hens and only hatched the blue/green eggs. Out of seven chicks that hatched....EVERY chick is black!
NONE of my EE hens are black, so does that mean that the roo is always going to produce black chicks?
I have a pair of bantam Black Australorps and their eyes are dark like your girl. Their dark eyes make the skin around their eyes look lighter too.
She is a very pretty girl.
He's beautiful-wish you weren't so far from NW PA! I have a black copper marans roo and could use one with some blue in him like your boy.
What is your zip? Could you please PM it to me?
