What is this? We just got these pigs last night at an auction and thought it was just roughed up some by other pigs, but I'm pretty sure it has to be something else to it. Please help if you're experienced at keeping pigs.

I'm certainly no expert, but it looks like it could be mange. Sunburn and ringworm are other possibilities.

I agree that mange and ringworm are possible causes of this. It's impossible to say though without skin scrapings. It's usually not too expensive to have done at the vet. However, if you are planning to butcher these pigs, be sure to bring it up to the vet so they can consider that when coming up with a treatment.

thanks for replying. The vet put him on antibiotics and wormed him too. He's feeling much better now and was running around today when my hubby checked on him.
