The 4 in 1 is for Canker, E.Coli, Paratyphoid & Coccidiosis. The de-wormer is moxidectin. I was counselled to medicate my birds every six months to maintain healthy birds.
I have 9 White Homing Pigeons. The oldest is 4 months old, the youngest 7 weeks old. I have been letting the birds fly and explore from my loft. They do great! When the leave they leave hungry. They fly for approximately 1 1/2 - 2 hours then return. Here's where the problem lies. (A month...
Is it possible to have a pigeon in the loft eat eggs? I had two nests in the corners of my loft. One had 2 eggs the other 1. Today when I went out to feed my birds all the eggs were gone. I found one partial shell stuck to a bird and the remains of another by their waterer. Thoughts? The...
I currently have 20 pigeons under a year old. In the next 2 weeks I'd like to purchase 10 more pigeons that will be 6 weeks old. Am I ok to put these pigeons together in the same loft?
I've got 25 pigeons. Usually they all pile into the feed when I feed them. Today only about half fed. The rest stayed on their perches. The last couple of days we've had nothing but snow & rain. No sunlight at all. The loft is draft free. Temperatures at night in the upper 20's-30's. I...
I'm purchasing 20 white pigeons. The current owner stated they've never been out of his loft. Some of the older ones are over a year old. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
Just read this:
By putting a warm egg into cold water, as the egg cools it will contract and draw moisture through the porous outter shell.
Remember that egg shells are porous and developing chick breath through the shell. Moisture can also be lost through the shell and this is why older eggs...
How fast does an egg absorb water? Don't we increase humidity at lock down? I can't imagine an egg absorbing enough water to drown a chick unless you let the egg float for a long time? (Playing devil's advocate) When I have floated eggs AFTER a hatch the eggs wobbled fairly quick. From all...
Just curious could eggs be floated instead of candling before they are locked-down? The water on the egg would contribute to raising the humidity for the lock down, we raise humidity anyways? Thoughts?
Still to many males. 1:5, 1:6 is a good ratio. 3 roos with 4-6 hens is still an accident waiting to happen unless you enjoy fighting. The hens will be worn out from all the mounting that will be taking place.
