In the morning a suet basket with kale, some grapes or cherry tomatoes & more kale (like a sandwich). Peaches, watermelon (all melons) figs (1st tome today-big hit). All cold, here in TX in the afternoon it's frozen, mango & strawberries, broccoli&cauliflower (frozen bags are the best)...

I started with pine shavings, couldn't decide & got both. Been using the rice hulls for about two months. I still have pine shavings in my compost from Feb (new to composting too).

I use rice hulls for the coop. 10cf for 12$ at my local feed store. It scoops better when cleaning & breaks down in my compost quicker than pine shavings. Just my two cents. K

I' new too. I tried to do chick cakes (oats or sunflower) to grow before second leaves. In TX I burnt them. I just sprout sunflower seeds now. I soak them in a colander/strainer for 12-24hrs covered w/paper towel. Then rinse put back in the bowl & cover w/papertowel. Rinse every 12hrs or so 2-3...
