    Winter lighting suggestions

Maybe I worded that wrong or made it confusing. The light systems either have a timer and are motion sensored or they or they don't have a timer at all. I want them to come on and stay on for sure. I'll check out the article. Thanks

    Winter lighting suggestions

Thanks There are solar lights on Amazon with timers but they mostly are motion activated or are just solar lights without timers that aren't motion activated. I could use the solar light without timer but they would come on at dark instead of in the morning.

    Winter lighting suggestions

I'm looking to get a solar light with timer for my chickens. Is there a brand or system that works best? Right now I'm running an extension cord out to their hen house with a timer. Also is it best to run the additional light in the morning or evening to keep them laying or doesn't it matter? Thanks

Brooding is over, when laying begins again?

I had one hen brood for a little over month, maybe longer. I got her to stop. When will she start laying again? Also, I put in new landscaping and can't keep the girls out of it. I paid a lot of money to do this at the request of my wife. Is there something I could put down or spray to deter...

    Who's the pecker?

Awesome..... Thx! Also after thinking, my girls lay in the morning. We collect before work/school. So it would have to be between the time they lay early morning til we leave. Curiosity sounds probable and they are all new layers.

    Who's the pecker?

All my chickens have finally stated laying, but the last few days it seems that there is a culprit in the hen house that is pecking holes in some of the eggs. Is this a jealous hen being vindictive? Why would they do this? I don't think its from lack of space as my hen house and nesting boxes...

    Ameraucana?

So I bought some chickens in March. Two of which were supposed to be Ameraucanas. One turned out to be a rooster, qhich we got rid of. The other my wife says looks like a pigeon. Here's a pic, let me know what you think. Thanks

I also read that they start producing around 18 weeks, these are I'm thinking 21 weeks.

    One and not all

Thanks for the welcome and "hi" to all! I let them free range for 3-4 hrs a day. I thought that they may be laying around the yard so I looked, but to no avail. They were bought at the same time and were all the same size.

    One and not all

I purchased my first set of girls at the end of March (4 Isa Browns and 2 Amerucanas, although one Amerucana turned out to be a rooster. One Isa has been laying for over two weeks now but the others have started yet. What is the reason for them not producing, is there something I'm missing...
