    Pressure sores vs. Bumblefoot

KaleIAm, my vet has prescribed a treatment as well for my first case of Bumble (chicken) in 9 years. The chicken responded so quickly to the soaking, topical meds, bandaging performed twice a day. Vet is recommending the same treatment for my ducks even though he doesn't think it is bumble...

    Pressure sores vs. Bumblefoot

Oh, no limping....although I have seen them stand on one leg which some have suggested is to relieve pressure on a foot that may be bothering them.

    Pressure sores vs. Bumblefoot

Do you wrap their feet in this treatment regimen....that's the hard part with ducks. I'm doing something similar with one of my chickens and it responded very quickly with no incisions needed.

    Treating Bumble Foot in Ducks

I run my chickens with the ducks. The covered coop is sand (it is the most secure against predators so everyone gets locked up at night in this space) which seems best for keeping dry and removing poop. I scoop the sand run at least twice a day. The uncovered run (I'm in Utah) gets a little...

    Pressure sores vs. Bumblefoot

Hello everyone, I was hoping I could get some advice about the sores on my Cayuga's feet. I sent a text to my vet with the attached photo and he thinks it is pressure sores from being landlocked which "could" develop into bumblefoot OR develop into long-term calluses which would be fine. My...

Anybody ever heard of or planted some Hmong red cucumber before?

Hi all, This is a really old thread but I thought I would still reach out and pose my question. I'm in Salt Lake City, Utah, and I started my Hmong Red in May. I have some ridiculously ginormous cucumbers from this plant but they aren't changing color from white??? Curious if anyone else has...

    Duck Breed Focus - Cayuga

Yes Cayuga Jane, one of my two has been laying for about 6 weeks and I'm getting nearly one every day. I'm going to put a camera in the coop and try to figure out which one is doing the laying...I know drakes supposedly don't really "quack" but I still feel I may have a quackin' male!!! LOL...

    Duck Breed Focus - Cayuga

Oh, and no drake feather at 7 1/2 months. Cayuga Jane weighed in with the previous youtube vid and thinks they are both females...so I am just anxiously awaiting the other duck to start laying for confirmation :)

    Duck Breed Focus - Cayuga

I soooo much want to believe that my larger, greener, quacking duck is actually a female. But, here is an update: I have been getting 1 egg a day on most days for 3 weeks...only one, never two, and I can never catch either of my two ducks laying an egg. The suspected male has ceased mating...

    Duck Breed Focus - Cayuga

Yay!!!! Thanks for weighing in!!! The one I thought was a male is substantially more green, bigger, thicker neck that she puffs out. I'm glad she is all show :)

    Duck Breed Focus - Cayuga

Okay, I just posted a YouTube video...not a good one for viewing them but I can post pics for that. My "suspect" drake is the very loud quack that sounds like he is laughing..."ha. ha, ha" and the simple quack is the smaller, less green female. They are 7 months old, no eggs, no drake feather...

    Duck Breed Focus - Cayuga

Hi everyone, Here's my update on Pyrtle and Samantha, 23 week old Cayuga ducks. Pyrtle (the suspected male) is more green and quite a bit larger than Samantha. Pyrtle did not quack for nearly 3 months and still does not quack nearly as much as Samantha...but when "he" does, it is boisterous...
