Absolutely! Her feathers from drooling are a bit rough still so I hadn't posted pics. Honestly all I did was antibiotics and tube feeding. Its still been cold here so I haven't done much with the feathers.
The day has officially come!!! Not only is our girl eating on her own but was put back into the coop with 3 other chickens that were injured I'm the attack today!! I'm so excited and her beak/ law is almost completely aligned with her top beak
Another update, and maybe a surprising one. She can move her mouth now, although her beak isn't aligned but way closer than it was before. She's getting so strong it's getting harder to tube feed her. I definitely can't do it alone now. I think (fingers crossed) she might eat on her own again...
Hello,
Just a quick update on how our kiddo is doing. She is making more chicken noises but is staying quiet most of the time. The beak/ jaw is the same however she's been able to successfully swallow formula before and after tubing. Long road ahead but so far I feel she's doing well.
It happened during the day so I'm really not sure. I think elastogel is a god send, if it's in an area that it can be used. I have done it at home since, and it truly does help the chicken heal faster. The issue is, of course, that you have to remove and restaple every couple of weeks when the...
We are feeding exact mixed with egg in it. This does give me some hope she may be ok. I have had to tube feed another chicken for months. I am comfortable doing that. I will definitely give updates. I appreciate your response! Avain vets would be several hours away from here.
I actually have the dosage for aspirin (x amount of pill vs x amount of water) that given to me by a vet that looked it up. With me tube feeding I don't feel that it will be enough at this point to make a difference. My concern with this method is the fact that the formula has to be heated which...
Hello, we had a coon attack in my coop, and lost about 80 percent of our chickens. We thought we had the issue fixed, and they came back for more. We ended up with 3 injured chickens. I have had my fair share of tubing, chicken issues, etc. I usually can handle anything that comes my way.
The...
So... I'm probably going to be read the riot act for saying this. I'm no expert but ended up with a chicken that got her head stuck in a fence which scalped her. I took her to the vet and mind you, I don't live in an area where we have specialized bird vets. My vet cleaned her up, put elastogel...
I have looked through all of the breeders in a neighboring state where this chick came from, did multiple google searches, still at a loss. Thank you so much for your help though! I assume she is a mix. We thought she was a Sienna Star but she doesnt look like one at all to me now. The mystery...
Hi All,
I have been a member of this group for about a year. It has been awesome learning from all of you. This is the first time a question has come up that I have felt the "need" to post. I hope you can help figure out what kind of chick we have. I also included a picture of what she...
