    Arizona Chickens

The wife reminded me that a wild rooster down the street was killed about 8 weeks ago. Wonder if they miss his crowing in the mornings.

    Arizona Chickens

Inside the city limits in my own backyard I saw a big hawk sitting on my power pole just this week AND for the past two nights I can hear an owl across the street. Just what I need. If others have strikers I wont worry to much about the ladies. EASTER is the oldest and HOT is the youngest, all...

Haven't been around for a while but the wife keeps asking when the 6 girls are going to start laying again. Its been close to 6 weeks since they went on strike. None look like they are molting much if at all. The seventh an EE has not stopped laying. Any thoughts. North Phoenix.

    Broody Hen Thread!

So gave one sister the eggs that didn't hatch yet for a few days to see if there are any late bloomers. Her sister is raising the hatched chick. A third OLD hen is even helping to raise this one lone chick. Might get it some little buddies if none of the rest hatch.

    How to hide a rooster

My boy spent months sleeping in a dog kennel in the garage. 10:00 pm until 8:30 am. Told him if he would keep his beak shut he could sleep with the ladies. Problem was by 8:40 am he had serviced all three ladies at least once and crowing about it. Alas he has since moved on to a place with many...

    Minkenry

Having learned quickly with a ferret, when they attach to a finger pulling and shaking doesn't work. Simply roll your hand up and back making them look up and then over their back. The lower jaw opens like magic. A quick light thump on the nose discurrages biting if done immediately after a...

    Any car enthusiasts out there?

Grease is in my veins. Raced 1/4 midgets at 6yo. Still have the 64 Vette I bought in 72 after HS graduation. Gave the 67 RS Camaro I bought in 74 to my son in 2002. Built many more mostly Chevys. Just finished the brakes on 97 4x4 Suburban tonight. NEVER dated a girl that looked at my Vette...

How do you like that. One of my two Buff Orpingtons went broody friday. Exactly 12 days AFTER I removed the roo in everybody's best interest. Guess I'll wait and see how she does. She's got 5 eggs under her.

Not enough time for that. My brother was cleaning and loading for his upcoming fishing trip or I would have tried something for sure.

A BEE thread....for those interested in beekeeping.

Another thread I need to watch. Chickens, mushrooms, gardens, hunting, guns and now bees. This site is great. I have a feral hive that has refused to go into a top bar hive I built a year and a half ago. I'm going to try some lemon grass and see if that helps. They are in a wall of a building...
