Please Help! Duckling sticking wings out.

They brood inside. They are out towards the middle of the day. We've had one really cold day so far, I didn't take them out then, but the lowest temp they've been out in is about 65 degrees. If any of them act cold, I'll take them in.

Please Help! Duckling sticking wings out.

They are fed a waterfowl feed. I had fed my previous ducks this and never had any niacin issues. As for the grit, they are outdoors 3 hours a day. I never gave them supplemental grit. They have straw bedding. She has stopped. It might have just been tiredness. It was very late at night and...

Please Help! Duckling sticking wings out.

Well, in the past three days, I've lost two ducklings. Today, Inky had a heart attack and died. There was nothing anyone could do. This evening, my harlequin started sticking one wing straight out. It's very strange. I don't get what she's doing. She's only 3 weeks old. Barely started...

Duck Depression (What should I do about ducklings that suffered the loss of a member?)

It happens. Thank you for the quick response. It's comforting to know I don't have to worry about someone dying of depression in the night.

Duck Depression (What should I do about ducklings that suffered the loss of a member?)

Last night, while I was in a concert, Tucker managed to flip his food bowl with him inside. He got stuck and suffocated. While this is sad, I'm concerned about the health of my other ducks. I have five females, who will all be three weeks old on Monday. Even though only a little time has passed...

It's that time again! (Duck with one leg slightly stuck out, and duck that won't stop peeping.)

Well good news! For the Cayuga, she seems to have slipped and hurt her leg, and because of this, she hadn't used it properly, and the muscles hadn't been building up. After 2 days of excercising, there is massive improvement. I hadn't seen a post with this particular cure before, but she went to...

It's that time again! (Duck with one leg slightly stuck out, and duck that won't stop peeping.)

Well, I recently bought 6 ducklings. As of Monday they are a week old. Two of my ducklings are having issues. The first is my Cayuga, and her issue is slightly more pressing. When she stands still, she seems to put one leg out to the side a bit more, and then lean on her closer leg. I've only...

    New Ducks!!

Well, I got some new ducklings! I'm both happy and sad. I wish I could have waited longer, because I feel terrible about my old ducks... but I'm so happy to have ducks running around again! I have six this time. Each is a different breed. I'll post some pictures.

    A Horrible Morning.

Well, I think I'm going to start anew. I know that nothing will ever replace those ducks, but I'm going to try again with more experience. The dog isn't one I recognized, and the animals were actually being kept in my garage. It somehow managed to squish itself in through the cat door. (Either...

    A Horrible Morning.

This morning was absolutely horrible. When I went to take care of my birds this morning, I discovered that they'd all been killed by a large dog that had gotten into our garage. Sadly, all three of my ducks, my two chickens, and one of my two rabbits had been killed when I got in there. I did...

    A good first pet duck

Hello! In September, I got my three duck babies. In the time since I got them, one of my friends has gotten really attached. He hasn't ever had a pet before, but his dad is considering letting have a duck (he's met mine, he knows how messy they are.) I'd like to help him get one, but I was...

Need help with Gender of a Chocolate Runner

Hi! I have 3 ducks, and they are all supposed to be hens, but I'm worried my chocolate runner might be male. These are my first ducks and it's not that big of a deal if she is male, but I don't want ducklings, so if I need to seperate them, I'd like to know sooner rather than later. She was...

Four week old meat duck doesn't look like I think she should, please help!

They are doing fantastic! Thanks for asking. My Swedish has been gaining more weight, and we have been giving her special attention during feeding, to ensure she is eating properly. We think that she was just being bullied out of food. There was definitely some aggression between her and my...

Four week old meat duck doesn't look like I think she should, please help!

Hi! I had been giving them the food that I bought from Metzer farms. Up until this evening, they had a heat lamp, and they don't have one know because it broke (but don't worry, they were taking a bath in another room!), but they do have a heated pad under their box, and the room they are in is...
