I've raise gamebirds, hookbills and now chickens on sand and wouldn't consider using anything but. The poop rolls up in the sand and racks out real easy. The pens are covered and we don't get much rain most of the time. Oh, and they are on asphalt and the sand is only about 1 inch or less deep...

Good to hear it doing better. The 24 days probably is the problem with him. I would guess your thermometer is off and it's not hot enought to have a good hatch. 24 days is way to long. Did you open the eggs that didn't hatch and see what was going on with them ?

Looks like it could be a Golden Neck d'Anver but the feather around the neck and on the body look more buff than a darker rust color that should be there but it could be the picture too ???
