Cheryl, You're killing me. I also have 5 hens who turned 22 weeks on Monday. We got our first egg on St Patrick's day. We were thrilled beyond reason, really.
But we have only had one egg per day since Monday. Does that mean that only one hen is laying? What are those other girls doing...
Ok, ok, ok, I feel much better. Thanks, everyone.
They did seem to stay very fluffy while they were out there. And they were really enjoying whatever it was they were finding in the soaked lawn, so I'll worry no more.
If they're happy, I'm happy!
My 5 hens, 21 weeks old, have been out and about in the yard for a couple of weeks now that it is a little warmer. And doing great. But today it is 40 degrees and pouring rain. They are out on the grass pecking away. What are they doing? They have plenty of food in the coop? Will they make...
Wow! What a huge egg.
Our RIR just started laying on St. Paddy's Day and the eggs are tiny. We've only had 3 so far. But will they get any bigger? It would take 4 of these little eggs to feed someone for breakfast. Seems like a lot of work for one serving of scrambled eggs.
I think only one...
Our beautiful chicks are 4 weeks old. They are still inside because it is so cold here in CT. But they make the biggest mess of their waterer all day long. When I am feeling neurotic, I could clean it out 5 times per day.
I have tried elevating the waterer, but they still manage to get poop...
What the heck is "scratch". Our chicks are only 3 weeks old so they have not had any treats yet, except some hard boiled egg yolk.
Sounds like I should know what scratch is and get some for when they are a little older and freezing outside in a coupla months.
