    The eggs were collected 2 hours earlier, the embryo when found was still moist, so quite freshly laid.

    We have 8 hens, no chance of a 'visitor' getting in, not that neighbors have a rooster either.

    A couple of days ago my partner found an almost fully formed chick in the nest box.(not alive) No shell, only the chick, we have No rooster. This was not from a broody hen, it was just 'hatched' that day. Does anyone have an explanation for this?
