    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

I wonder if it's the bloom that makes them have that pale pink color. I washed some and they seem more brown after.

Yep...my RIR and a mix breed did that too. Never saw them squatting any other time. Only when I reached for them or they got startled. A bout a week later.....eggs.

    Nesting boxes and roosts

FINALLY ......on the coldest day of the year, we just got our first egg with our first chickens. It's tiny but I'll take it. . The weather has been TERRIBLE. I'm very surprised to get it today of all days. So aart I guess you were right, the ransacking was a sign.

    Nesting boxes and roosts

SO......now since I' made the modifications, the same thing is happening. The new nesting area/box that I set up in the bottom is ransacked everyday when I get home. The ceramic eggs have been scratched out of the box as most all of the fresh pine shavings as well. And I don't mean just...

    Sleeping in Nesting Boxes

Is the roosting bar in an enclosed area? Or does it have a wall behind it? I know that hens like to feel secure. I saw a video once where a bunch of hens were on a roost and it had a wall behind it. The roost was extended for more birds PAST where the back wall was. The chickens would...

    Nesting boxes and roosts

Thank you both. Pstock, did you make those pvc feeders or buy them. They sell something similar at my local F&G but just the feeder alone is $30+. The waterer seemed like a good idea but it seems like only one bird at a time could eat out of the feeder.

    Nesting boxes and roosts

So........I finished modifying the coop just a little while ago. Enclosed the bottom on three sides and put a nesting box in the bottom. Didn't take a pic but I also raised one of the roosting perches up a few inches. The roosts are located on a seperate floor above the new nesting...

SO why did you say it was against federal law. That is not an accurate statement. Why did you say that? And there's something wrong with you if your wishing Rabies on ANYBODY's kids. You need help. Don't make a statement of you can't back it up with facts.

Neighbor is BIG TIME feeding the raccoons.

Not in any way. When is giving inaccurate information helping? Just want him to either say he was mistaken or show me so I can learn and educate myself with the proper literature. Is there anything wrong with that? Or can you just say anything you want on here and give bad information...
