Im sorry, i wasnt very clear. The coop is enclosed and also opens up into a penetetionary type run, built by my husband. The birds have no way to get out and are completely protected. But it does still scare me thinking "what if".

You are brilliant!!!! It worked! Night 3, we put a bright light just outside their coop and shined it in the window. It got dark and they walked in. Poor things......now their cooped up all day because of the weather. Thank you so much for your advise :)
