Our little girl passed during the night. She actually looked very peaceful. Thanks for everyones thoughts, being able to try everything we could, makes me feel a little better. Her boyfriend Cool Guy is beside himself. Pacing his pen like he does when they are separated. He's a tiny white...
Not hearing any sound in her lungs.... But, I can see lack of oxygen causing the discoloration ....Oh ya, and I've given her 2 doses of vitamins, so I'm thinking that would rule out anemia.
Her crop is empty, as for the egg, shes only ever laid 1. First egg was couple weeks ago. Wow, didn't...
Never have I seen this, or read anything about it. My searches have left me at a loss.
I have a hen that all of a sudden went sick. This morning she is the classic picture of sick. Lethargic, droopy wings, not eating or drinking. Nothing to pin point one thing or another. Oh, and rapid...
btw... Cool Guy (6 yr old named him) is about 6-7months old. Healthy, happy, and good looking poop.
Hes rather frustrated, hes horney and Whity wont give him any LOL Think hes trying a new show off move?
The past couple days I've seen my Japanese rooster walking backwards. He puts his beak almost to the ground, then moonwalks backwards. All my years with chickens I've never seen this..... Any Ideas?
First time I have seen this.....
One side of my hens face is swollen. Other side is perfectly normal. It's been like that for a couple days. Her poo is runny, but normal color. Shes a little slower, but still scratching around and hanging with the flock. She seems to have lost a little weight...
Ok, This is the second time I've heard this, and both people swear up and down its true.....
They say the more oval eggs will produce pullets, while eggs with the pointy end will be cockerels.
Personally I don't believe it, but it would be great if I'm wrong.
Anyone have thoughts, or...
I have been thinking of getting a couple guineas, but need to do research before I venture out.....
How do they get along with chickens? Can they share a coop??
Do they really act as "watchdogs" toward predators? They go after snakes??
From reading here, I'm getting the feeling that over all...
Thank you everyone for your hopes, hugs and prayers.... I'm still hoping and looking, but still no sign of her.......
I just can't get past the "what if" though. If I had done this, maybe it wouldn't have happened. If I had let the young roo's that we can't keep out, maybe it would have been...
I keep hoping she went broody, but I'm not holding onto much hope of that I've had her for about a month & half, and I have never seen a egg from her. Not even the 2 weeks she was in the house sick... She is a buff orpington, so its possiblie those orp mommy hormones took over.
Sun Shine was missing when I got home....
She was my sweet heart, my spoiled little girl. She was hit by a terrible illness a couple weeks ago. She held tough, and I nursed her back to health. Spending hours dripping water & yogurt in his beck during the worst. She made a full recovery...
My son has a Jananeses pair for hi 4H project. Can they eat the pellet feed? Or do I need to buy them crumbles? I fear they would be too big, or might choke. Really don't want to keep buying a 25lb bag of crumbles just for them though..... not to mention the waste!
Thanks.
$19.50 a hundred pounds Awesome!! Its $16 for 50lbs here... But I only have a flock of 4 atm, so 100lbs feed would spoil before I get through it. Good I'll keep it in mind when my flock grows
