I've heard that at a cpl weeks old you can tell gender by tail feathers. I have 3 black australorps and 1 has very pronounced tail feathers and the other 2 do not. Is this accurate? All my other chicks (golden comets and road island reds) have pronounced tail feathers as well. I know I'll know...
Ok, thanks. I know that the golden comets were sexlink and so I didn't know if anyone could tell by color. The RIR looked like they were getting a black line down the back of their head but I didn't know how true that is for gender, or if it should have been a defined line by now.
Hello everyone. I'm new on here and new to raising chickens. We purchased 3 golden comets, 3 black australorps, and 2 road island reds on Thursday. We were told they were all hens, but now I'm wondering. Here's a pic of the chicks of anyone has any insight.
