Keeping 8 week olds warm at 33 degrees!

I didn't foam in the vents, just around the holes we cut into the shed to place the vents. They are uncovered and open otherwise :)

Keeping 8 week olds warm at 33 degrees!

That's great news. I put their old brooder box in with roosts and straw. I took one wall off, but they prefer the corner farthest from it :)

Keeping 8 week olds warm at 33 degrees!

My coop is a 8x10 metal shed, it did have quite a few open spaces yesterday morning, but I went through with spray foam insulation and got all the sunlit spaces on the floor. Let it cure and trimmed it. Today I covered the floor with a bale and a half of straw. They have vents we put in at the...

Keeping 8 week olds warm at 33 degrees!

Thank you! I told her that I asked for advice on many different sites and chicken clubs, and that all but 1 out of 27 replies said they would be fine. She doesn't believe me, but with all the wonderful support I'm getting, I'm pretty confident that I will wake up with all 12 staring at me for...

Keeping 8 week olds warm at 33 degrees!

Thank you! I just wanna be a good chicken mom and make sure they're gonna be ok! Someone showed me the picture chart and it said they wouldn't be ok in those Temps until 12 weeks! They're all cuddled together but seem ok.

Keeping 8 week olds warm at 33 degrees!

So yesterday it was almost 80 degrees here. My 12 chicks are 7 & 8 weeks old and have been in the coop for 3 days. Tonight it's supposed to rain and drop to 35 degrees! I'm afraid to use a heat lamp in the coop, what can I do to keep them warm? I've had a number of people say just a bunch of...

Almost 6 week brahmas hen or roo

I've heard something about the pea combs, but I'm new to it. The rest of my flock are Isa Browns so I've only ever had the single combs to look at.

    TSC said Australorps...

TSC said australorps, but I was googling and none of the photos show them with feathered feet. If not australorps, what did I buy??? Thanks!

    Too early to tell gender?

[/IMG][/IMG] Pretty new to chickens. These are RIRs I purchased on March 4, 2017 from TSC. I was told they were approximately 1-2 weeks old. I'm guessing it's too soon to tell if they are roos or not, but I couldn't help showing them off anyway!

    Hello :)

Thank you, everyone! We got our chicks on 3/4/17 and we're told they were a week and a half old. They are doing well so far. The kids love them. The cat is curious but kept away, mostly by the dog who has now come to protect the new babies. It's going well so far!
