    The EE braggers thread!!!

My eight-year old EE, Bertha, took a year off from laying, but she’s back in the box! She’s laid about ten eggs over the last three weeks. And she’s going to lay one today! She and Dottie, my SS, are both still laying. They never cease to amaze me.

    Aquasol and molasses?

What can I add to the water and Aquasol to make it palatable for the girls? Or maybe a better descriptor would be to “disguise” it from the girls? You’d think that chickens who drink from mud puddles wouldn’t be so finicky, but they are not happy with the taste or smell.

    Timing for worming while relocating

    Sorry! It’s Tractor Supply’s pharmacy! https://www.tractorsupplyrx.com/tsc/product/safe-guard-aquasol-dewormer-for-chickens-3-ml/52862.html

    Timing for worming while relocating

I’m using aquasol from now on! Rural King’s pharmacy has it in smaller, less expensive bottles. That way I can put it in the water and be done with it. Most of my girls don’t like to be handled, so this should be less stressful for everyone.

    Sand for Coop?

I actually found a shovel that’s designed for the beach! It’s great for those “heavy loads!” 😆 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D2WGDW84?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_asin_title

    Sand in Coop in Michigan?

I definitely have my “clucker clothes” that I don’t wear in the house. I’ve been pooped on (a lot since my girls use me as their own personal jungle gym), but they’re never gonna sand is also dusty. So I just strip off the clucker clothes and put on the house clothes when I come in. Great...

    Sand in Coop in Michigan?

lol, mine are definitely spoiled! They’re pets that poop breakfast for sure. I use this to scoop poop: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CN3BQR34?ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details&th=1 One thing I’d recommend is that you really secure your coop and run. Hardware cloth instead of the chain link dog...

    Coccidiosis

Try sardines or tuna. Or kitten food (the wet kind). Or some of your leftovers from dinner. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

    Sand in Coop in Michigan?

I’m in waaaaaaay-Southern Ohio, right above the River. We have sand in the coop, run, and around the chicken yard. I love it. The run has a metal roof so the sand stays dry and cool all Summer. I use clear plastic to wrap the run in the Winter, so it stays dry and cuts the wind. I use a...

    Coccidiosis

You could try enticing her with scrambled eggs or just some wet mash made with warm water and her usual chicken chow. My girls think that’s a huge treat! Good luck.

    Sand for Coop?

Except if you have a lot of clay in the, for lack of a better term, soil. We use natural, washed, coarse grain river sand from the Scioto River. We don’t even have enough “soil” to have a leach bed - we have to have our own personal water treatment plant for the house. So sand is perfect for...

Welcome! Where are you guys located in Ohio? I’m down in Pike County on the Scioto River. Always looking for places that have good birds.

When is a poopy butt a problem?

Forget the chickens, I might enjoy it! 😂

    Letting Hen Raise Chicks

Love it!!! I hope she’s as good a momma hen as my girls have all been. The best part is, since she’s already used to you handling her and having your hands in the brooder, you can play with the Chicklets without her getting upset!

    Supporting advanced pasty butt

If it were me, I’d just keep an eye on her and keep picking her up. You might want to weigh her every month or three once she starts to feather out. If she’s eating, drinking, and pooping, and not acting too strangely, just keep doing what you’re doing. Handling her gently and talking to her...

    Supporting advanced pasty butt

Keep trying to tempt her with scrambled eggs and warm mash. Is she still drinking? Hold her as much as you can with your hands over her so it’s dark. Mine would always go from pissed off and noisy to sound asleep in a few minutes.

    What made you happy today?

Hot, right from the cooker, fresh maple syrup on homemade French toast always makes me happy! Hubby too! Thanks to the Flockers!!

Hi all!! Pullets aquired yesterday !!

Welcome to the family of chicken tenders! I wouldn’t stress too much about the kids getting germs. Just get them in the habit of not touching their face and washing hands with soap and water after they handle the birds. In regards to suggestions on building the coop, a lot will depend on...
