The EE braggers thread!!!

Do you have those girls leg banded so you can tell them apart?

:welcome
Not banded...I know each and every one's coloring, markings & personality. Sweet Pea & Violet are the hardest to tell apart but once I see a face, I know who it is. :)

I am an admitted animal lover...I cried when a babysitter made me let my "pet salamander" go when I was 6. When I was 7 and asked to draw a picture of what I wanted to be in the future, I drew a zookeeper sweeping straw from an elephant enclosure. I took all my small town science department's critters (hamsters, gerbils, etc.) home every end of school year. I was the kid in North Dakota who ordered a hermit crab (Seymour) out of the back of a comic book in the middle of winter and tended to him for 6 yrs. I used my teenage job earnings to take my tomcat, Funky, to the vet more times than I can count to have him stitched up after fights with who knows what. At 16, I decided to become an optometrist and I did. I practiced in the civilian sector & in the USAF. Now, as an older, wiser woman...I am working on becoming the zookeeper who lived in my 7 yr old heart (currently 5 dogs, 2 cats, 8 chicks).

I lost two of my Americana chicks as babies, but I have had two other Americanas. I don't have a good picture of Opal, but I may be able to find one. I have one of Liberty from a couple of days ago. Opal was sadly killed by a coyote.

Hi, I know this is an old thread but could anyone help me identify what color this “ameruacana” is? (at least, it was sold to me as one) thanks in advance. All birds in this pen do lay blue eggs, but two are missing muffs/beards - except for the two in the picture. I’m just trying to gauge what colors I may end up with if I were to breed them.

My eight-year old EE, Bertha, took a year off from laying, but she’s back in the box! She’s laid about ten eggs over the last three weeks. And she’s going to lay one today!

She and Dottie, my SS, are both still laying. They never cease to amaze me.

No telling what you will get. Easter Eggers are not a true breed, they are essentially "mutts" and do not breed true. True Ameraucanas (note spelling) are expensive, generally in the range of $15/chick and you are not likely to get them from a feed store. But breed your pair by all means and see what you get! You may be pleasantly surprised.
