    Hawk Being Attacked By Crows

A scary and very cool thing happened to me last night. 2 crows have been hanging around and I read on this site they could help deter hawks. So I’ve fed them scraps a couple of times. Last evening, as I was closing up egg boxes, a hawk came out of nowhere. It was 5 feet from a me, a basket of...

“Amerucana pullet” started crowing at 8 weeks

He’s gorgeous but a total pill. I’d love to keep him for protection as we lost a bird to a hawk last fall. In fact there’s a hawk, also gorgeous, sitting on our fence right now.

“Amerucana pullet” started crowing at 8 weeks

Thank you. I was afraid I was right. I’ve only been keeping chickens for a little over a year so I’m still learning. I found a local farmer to take my roo this weekend. My kids will be sad to loose “Alice” (now Alessandro) but we can’t keep him in my neighborhood. Luckily my neighbors don’t...

“Amerucana pullet” started crowing at 8 weeks

Help! This 8 week old chicky is suppose to be a pullet but I don’t think so. It started crowing at 6 weeks old and has been dominant since one day old. It’s in a group of 5 and it’s the only one I think is a roo. Please help. And this is suppose to be an Americana but I think it’s an EE...

Leave the coop door open at night???

My girls are 18 weeks old. I shut the door when I first put them in there in mid May @ 12 weeks. But as school got out I got tired off getting up everyday to let them out. So I just make sure the run door is locked but leave the coop open. They go in the coop in the evening and don't come...

I live in Atlanta, GA. Our current temps are all over the place. Sunny & 80 one day the cloudy/rainy/windy40. Nights are 60-40 etc. I have the girls on my second level screened on porch in a brooder so they're safe. I keep a heat lamp and blanket over them. I can see them now and they...

Feeding after moving to coop help please!

I'm new to chicks. Mine are almost 5 weeks old and they're in a brooder on my screened in porch. I still have a red heat lamp on since it's still chilly at night. And I have a blanket around and on top of the brooder. Should I start taking their food and water away at night?

Chick can't chirp and has runny stool

Thank you all. "Cookie" is doing better. I put her pasty butt under some warm running water and wiped it a couple of days and she hasn't had any further problems. I also cut out "treats" of spinach and kale. She's chirping too but much smaller than the rest. She's happy, energetic and a real...

Chick can't chirp and has runny stool

Hi. I'm new to BYC and chicks in general. I need some help. I have 6 chicks thought I bought from a feed store 10 days ago. They all seem pretty happy. One of my Araucanas wasn't growing much and had pasty butt. I cleared her bottom and she's a happy little thing but I noticed her stool is...
