Looking to buy a tolbunt Polish rooster. Definitely prefer frizzle but may consider smooth feathered if I get desperate enough lol. I'm in northeast Alabama, willing to travel within reason for the right rooster.
Probably a long shot, but I'm looking for one or two Lavender Orpington roosters in northeast AL, northwest GA, or south central TN. Preferably at least 6 months old. Please send me a message if you have anything available!
Interesting. To be honest I've never even heard of Isabel until now! Does Isabel breed true? Guess it's time to do some more research! I'm pretty bummed though. I spent a long time looking for and a lot of money on my Lavenders :hmm
Hey all! Hope this is the right place to post. I purchased a flock of Lavender Orpingtons a couple months ago. 6 hens and 2 roos. I also have a trio I already had that I keep separate. I hatched about 20 chicks yesterday, a few from the trio, but mostly from the larger flock. Two chicks hatched...
Yes it's definitely strange! My 8 year old thinks it's the cutest chicken ever and says it's her new pet lol. I'll try to remember to update with pictures as it grows!
That's what I said to my husband! But he came from my chickens and no one else within miles of me has chickens, so no other potential fathers than my roosters.
This chick came from my hens. I believe the mother was my big Orpington, father is a Wyandotte. It's just weird because it almost looks like a tiny turkey! Lol. It's getting around fine and keeping up with the others. I've just never had a chick so strange looking.
So I've hatched a lot of chicks over the years but never seen one quite like this. It's about two weeks old. It was smaller than the others when it hatched and is barely growing. It's half the size of the rest of the chicks, even those several days younger. Anyone ever seen this before? Is it...
Thank you! Yes, I do know that :) I'm new to goats but I've owned many horses and worked at a large barn for years, so I saw quite a few serious injuries.
It's been exactly one week since she was attacked. I'm pleased to say that she seems to be recovering well! I think she's going to be okay...
Hey everyone. A few days ago two of my goats were killed and one injured by a couple dogs. The one who lived was hurt pretty bad - the dogs went for her throat and tore it up pretty badly. We brought her to the house and have her on our screened in back porch (at night at least. She's been...
Hello! I just purchased a Karakachan livestock guardian dog to protect my goats. Curious if anyone has any tips or tricks on training a LGD? My pup is almost 12 weeks old and has grown up with both of his (currently working) parents, guarding Alpacas, goats, and chickens. So far he's doing...
Thank you all! I appreciate the responses. I did a little bit of research before posting and apparently guessed correctly on all of them - the one I was questioning the most was the little black and yellow, I couldn't tell if it was a Mallard or a Rouen. As far as the two standing straight up in...
Hey! So I couldn't resist picking up four ducklings from TSC yesterday. This is my first experience with ducks - I've only ever had chickens (in fact I gave the ducklings to my Silkie to raise - she just hatched some chicks, so I just snuck the ducklings in with them lol.) But I'm wondering if...
One more question - what should the humidity level be? Should I treat it like lockdown and raise the humidity or what? It's currently at 46%. I know raising it could be problematic for the less developed eggs but I'm more concerned with the ones close to hatching at this point.
