I’m also sorry nobody answered you. I am putting a mixed breed chicken in with my pure bred buff Orpington’s and americana’s… They are really fussing but the mixed breed really wanted to be with the other chickens because she’s all alone. They are fussing a lot, but they are not hurting her...
I’m not at home right now to get a picture, but they are all about the same age give or take a few days. The other chickens are also friendly breeds: buff Orpington, americana, golden comet.
My son just got this chick last week to raise himself. She is a salmon faverolle and is about 3 1/2 weeks old. She suddenly became extremely aggressive. Packing at us and the other baby chicks to the point where we had to separate her. Anybody know what might be happening? Anything we can do...
Our female quit laying very suddenly this week. I am going to give her some crushed egg shells too and see if that helps. She has been a consistent layer for months and months. . . This is good information. Thanks for sharing.
Still too soon to tell. Hang in there!!! Lady is right. They are SO HARD to sex! I bought all hens and still ended up with a rooster. I may have him dressed soon. He is of good size and an excellent breeder, but I mainly do chickens for eggs.
I have had no trouble with my silver-laced wyandotte rooster until yesterday. He attacked my sister-in-law twice and our broom (he hates the broom, even just the site of it). He has never attacked me or my sons. He is tearing up the back of my leghorn hen though, whom he prefers over all the...
Thank you for this thread. I have lost a silver laced Wyandotte two days in a row now. It appears that each check and took some kind of a fall. My sister-in-law and I can only figure that the chickens were pushed. Maybe they're in too big of a hurry to leave the coop? I'm still trying to figure...
My local friends have decided not to be helpful, which is fine. Totally their prerogative. This site has been so helpful with not only my chickens, but my ducks too! Thank you all so much!!!
My phone died, and I have no other way to upload a photo. There is a stonewall to help hold the heat and I have them in a metal container for brooding.
I just got my baby chicks in the mail today. They are doing very well! However, I don't have anyway to feed them from a hanging feeder. Does anyone else sprinkle the food in and let them learn to forage that way?
I sold my tiny coop today to a guy who knew a lot about ducks! I finally got some answers about Waddles and Puddles! They are 8-10 weeks old and both, most likely are female!
Are you looking to buy from a hatchery or buy eggs, females, drakes? We had a GREAT experience with meyerhatchery.com They carry every kind of bird you would want. Best wishes to you! This is a great club for ducks! I have learned so much.
