My daughter is rasing 10 bantams for her 4h project. We have successfully identifid two of the 10 as silkies. You know the easy ones with 5 toes. But need a little extra help with the rest.
We are thinking of installing a deer camera in the laying box just for fun to see who is doing what? My four kids, 3, 5, 9, and 12 are so intrigued by it.
Thanks, we got two more jumbo eggs today. I feel sorry for the poor chicken that has to lay it everyday. We do enjoy checking to see if we got our big dino egg everyday.
Its huge! We get one a day and at first thought they were double yolks so saved them to crack open with the kids. Most of our chickens are mixed breeds so im sure it may be hard to figure out.
Any help on what breed could be laying this jumbo egg. We are getting them consistently daily and they are not double yolks. We have black Cooper Marana, red stars, Easter eggers (obisviouly not this one), black sex links, and a few unknown barn chickens (mixed breeds)
There were two eggs marked Easter egger. We were hoping it was one. We watched the other one hatch and it was all black. Do they usually look that different.
I am holding his feet but he would flip back if I didn't. Little guy is fluffed up, chipping, nothing wrong with it's belly. He did have a very weird hatch. He made a hole in his eggs and just stayed there all day with his beak hanging out the hole.
I have a baby chick who hatched but cannot stand upright. I will flip it over and it will pull its neck and fall right back on its back. I read that some chicks will do this and to wrap them and place them in a bowl over night. I did this and the poor guy still cannot stand right and flipping to...
Today is the day. We went to school this morning and had one egg pipping. It bhas hatched already. Not seeing any other pips. How spread out can the eggs pip from each other?
Yeah, I did open to candle a few today. I was really upset that my first graders may miss out but that's when I heard chirping. It was amazing. I hope they can hear some more tomorrow
