    Ear Infection

Rooster has had ear infection two weeks. Gently cleaning ear but does not get better. Given first dose of LA200, vitamins. Nothing working. Initially felt better, wobbly. Might be inter ear? Is there a safe ear drop for chickens? An antibiotic ear drop maybe? Appreciate ANY advice.

    Leg problems

We felt that she was having trouble walking because the fifth toe was curled under really bad on both feet. We tried to correct but could not, then we noticed the legs were splaying out and it kept getting worse. Now I have vet wrap around her ankles like and at least she is keeping them under...

Chick with possible umbilical hernia - need advise!

Thank you for your reply. I lost her. I have not had one survive with this. Now I have one extremely small Serama that keeps getting pasty butt. He acts like he is not going to make then pulls thru and two days later (today) he is plugged again. This is the third time for him. He is eating...

    Leg problems

Been searching and cannot find info. I have a month old silkie that was born with last two toes turned under which made her limp. Had a vet tech wrap foot so that it was flat but it did not help - only seemed to make her fall over more. Tried in growup pen with same age chicks. Was fine at...

Chick with possible umbilical hernia - need advise!

Keep us informed, mine seems okay this morning. I'd say scramble an egg for him but he is probably too little to eat that. The sugar water should help as long as you take it slow ---- only say that from my bad experience - I tried to force it and it did not work.

Chick with possible umbilical hernia - need advise!

Dont know the solution, but if you find out one - pls text me. I have basically the same thing. Cord scab came off with a lump under it and it is bleeding a little. Put some neosporin on it and he is resting. Not sure what Else would help. Mine is under a heat lamp...

    Possible egg bound hen

Well its been been 10 days now. Little frizzle seemed to be better but has been declining last few days. Now she lays on her side, will move around, but not long on her feet, she is having trouble with her neck wobbling too. She eats so well and drinks, but seems to be getting thin. I wonder...

    Possible egg bound hen

Update: I took the "really sick" Buff and the "just got sick" frizzle hens to vet today. We decided to let them do a necropsy on our Buff as she had been sick for a week and was now laying on her side. She still ate and talked but was so weak. They have Microplasmy sonoma(sp). Starting as...

    Possible egg bound hen

A friend recommended a bird vet in San Antonio that is a friend of hers, so I am making an appointment tomorrow. She will see my chicken (my beautiful little white frizzle) that just came down with same symptoms and my buff that I am afraid is on her last few days/hours with us. I tried more...

    Possible egg bound hen

Sorry could not get online. She had a fecal float and exam from vet about three weeks ago after her sibling died. She was healthy. I just checked her crop - empty, I did a rectal (YUK) I did not feel an egg but she had lots of HOT, runny, yellow-green, not foul smelling poo. She resisted -...

    Possible egg bound hen

She is doing worse this morning - guess its best if my husband takes her for a walk.....sad, I have lost so many to the heat and one to wry neck. Only have three big hens left and then the remainder are my silkies/frizzles/polish may all be roosters.....not a good chicken person - may have to...

    Possible egg bound hen

5 month old buff orpington. Has not layed an egg yet. One from her group has been laying for two weeks. Last 4-5 days, been quiet, stays away from other hens. Seems depressed. Feathers look ruffled all the time. Eats a little if I put in front of her. Has extremely bright red waddle, comb...

I had one 3 month old break his leg two weeks ago and had it splinted. He just went back in with the flock this week and is doing well (still splinted-bandage changed when needed)- Now I have one of my 3 month old silkies start dragging her leg. She hides and I was afraid they would run over...

    Sick 3 mo old polish

I have them separated, just need a coop for the silkies/polish. My girl(I hope) polish is standing today she had a couple of black poops though - that means blood, right? I'll give her some more probiotic/save a chick water. I think I should keep her separated from the others for a few more...

    Sick 3 mo old polish

I have three total polish, all the same age, some larger chickens and some silkies. And I have a Galah cockatoo, a caique (daughters), a green cheek conure, a crimson bellied conure, a pink bourke, and 5 lineolated parakeets (one newly hatched). My brother had a yellow headed amazon names...

    Sick 3 mo old polish

Thank you so much for the response. They are almost 3 months old. Will check out the feed container too. I guess I need to do a lot of reading on molt. He did seem to like me rubbing his head. I know my parrots like me to work on the shafts of their new feathers. Its just he never wants me...
