I waited for the night and added my 6 new chicks under my broody Mille Fleurs (2 SLW, 3 ameraucanas, 1 Buff) she is brooding 6 7 days old chicks (1 Delaware and 5 brown leghorn)... she spreaded her wings and took the babies under her right away... she is such a good mom ! I am so proud of her...
My broody is raising her babys for 6 days now, could I add more chicks from the store? They would be a day old.
My broody is an experienced mama (mille fleurs bantam) has 6 chicks and I would have to buy 6 more at ther store, would she be ok with 12?

My Milles fleurs is a great mommy, she hatched many batch for me already. I have an order of chicks coming in this week, and my Milles Fleurs just got broody. Could I just put the chicks under her when the arrive? Does anyone tryed this even if the hen is been broody only for a few days?

I have 15 chickens and 2 goats and they share some space toguether, they get along pretty well... as long as the goats don't have acces to the chicken food, because they will eat it all!!!
The good thing about having goats with chickens is that they dont contaminate each other and spread...

Is the mom with the flock or separate? My older hens will peck at the babys and eventualy killed 2 of them by puncturing their neck...
