Long-term outlook for chick with RSS?

Baby Girl is 5 1\2 months now and absolutely healthy and beautiful! Her crown is growing and turning red and the final hurdle will be if she can lay eggs. To think we were considering having to euthanize her just a few months ago. If anyone has an RSS chick, please don't give up! Some extra...

Piper died suddenly with no explanation

It's a long story, but we had to get a friend for one of our chicks - both are black austalorps and we put them together immediately even though mine was five weeks and new friend was only two weeks. If you want to find one nearly the same age, check Craigslist for local breeders. Good luck and...

Long-term outlook for chick with RSS?

Baby Girl is 14 weeks now and thriving! She looks and acts like a real chicken. We appreciate everyday with her and are hoping she will be the miracle RSS survivor. Baby Girl is on the left - on the right is her BFF Phyllis Diller!

Long-term outlook for chick with RSS?

Thank you! It's almost as if she's beginning to thrive a bit. 5 oz as of today, and when I pick her up there's finally a bit of "plumpness!"

Long-term outlook for chick with RSS?

Just a quick update. Although the other Australorp continues to outgrow Baby Girl, she is showing mother hen behavior versus anything aggressive. We are making a small run to keep them separate from the flock. No sign of pain or distress, and she continues to grow even if it is at a snails pace.

Being new to having backyard chickens, I've since found BYC invaluable for answering all my newbie questions!! My RSS chick is a Black Australorp born May 1st. She's holding her own...

Thanks for the reply. None of those symptoms yet so I think we'll just stay the course for now!

Long-term outlook for chick with RSS?

I'm posting pics! Very hard to get good photos of black chicks, but I think they're good enough to see the differences. Both are black Austrolorps, but the new friend is only 2 weeks and already has tail feathers coming in. "Baby Girl" (as I now call my runt), is 5 weeks with short wings and no...

Long-term outlook for chick with RSS?

I have a chick I believe is afflicted with runting stunting syndrome? She is 4 weeks now and I had to separate her from the other three due to the sheer size difference. Yesterday we bought a one week old pullet to keep her company. I also took her to a vet a week ago, but they were relatively...

9 Week Old DWARF chick? PICS

I also have a chick I believe is afflicted with runting stunting syndrome. She is almost 4 weeks and I just bought a one week old to keep her company because the same age chicks were picking on her. I also took her to a vet a week ago, but they were relatively clueless as to what might be wrong...
