Was feeling confident that Midnight was a pullet but in the last couple weeks her comb and wattles have grown huge (especially compared to her sister who is from the same batch). I don't think I see male hackle or saddle feathers but this is my first go-round in 35+ years with chickens. I'm...
Good to know about new feathers. Pretty sure her top hat feathers are good to trim then ... Will study up a bit on then and also check out your link. I like her silly flighty self so it's ok if she doesn't calm too much. She's in a fully enclosed pen so she can't get to far!
Thanks! I'm really hoping for a pullet - I've been leaning towards thinking that since there are literally no wattles yet at all (but I think she's bearded so don't know if they'll show much)!
I know this may be a silly question, but can you hurt them by trimming feathers or is it like...
Hi All!! I have a Golden Laced Polish that I'm wondering if they are a he or she! Any thoughts from anyone with more experience than me (very very little!) Some days I see pointier feathers up top, others days rounded. I've also read in here a bit about trimming their head feathers or...
Thanks!! At least I know what to look forward to. Thinking she might be Bantam too need on her size. Happy to hear you feel she's a she...I was worried by the comb size but the color and reading about leghorns made me hopeful she was a she! Thanks again!
Thanks for your thoughts on Scrambled! This is Smidge .. she's tiny compared to the others her age ... she was billed as an EE but I'm wondering what you think! EE? Brown Leghorn? EE Brownleghorn cross? Something else? Probably 10 weeks old in these pictures. Thanks!
Hi! Would love to hear any thoughts on my young Polish ... 9-10 weeks old. Pretty sure my other chicks are all pullets but this has me stumped! Tried on the polish thread but no responses ! Thanks!

Those are a little older than mine (probably 3 weeks or so) ... the one has a big comb and wattles (mine has none showing and looks more like your other one) but that 'do sure looks a lot like Scrambled's!! I'm totally confused as to what he/she is at this point!
Interesting! I don't know much about either breed and will have to check up on it. She did feather pretty early on I guess ... I think I see patches of white where earlobes should be but she doesn't stay still long enough to get a good look. From what else I've heard, she is quite possible EE...
There is no sign of wattles that I can see yet (at 9 weeks) ... hopefully she just has a wild 'do! It actually is a little tamer than it looks here (but not much)!!
That's good to know ... I was worried the disheveled/wild look was leaning heavily toward rooster! At least that gives me a little more hope. I see no wattles either but wasn't sure how well they would show up. Thanks!
This is Scrambled - my Polish ...about 9 weeks old on estimate. Any thoughts to if they are a she or a he?? I had two Polish as a kid and both were roosters ... broke my heart and really hoping this one won't also (but worried it will ...). Would love to hear any thoughts! Thanks!
9-10 weeks (I've had her 8 1/2, not sure how old she was when I got her) ... yes, a single comb - orange and came to a peak but starting to round out now! Maybe she's Brown Leghorn, maybe EE/Leghorn mix ... time will tell I guess! Hopefully a she either way!
