(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
As an adult, yes - first time to have my own. Had them growing up but I wasn't totally in charge of their care!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Currently have 7 (hopefully) pullets. I've had them 8 weeks so would guess their ages to be between 8-11 weeks possibly (not exactly sure of their ages when I got them). I'm not totally convinced they are all "she's" yet - still trying to figure that out and will probably be figuring it out until I see eggs or hear crows!
(3) What breeds do you have?
Supposedly: 2 Black Australorps (Eclipse and Midnight), 2 Easter Egger variety (Poppy and Smidge), 2 Rhode Island Reds (Hashbrown and Toast) and 1 Polish (Scrambled) although I'm not convinced one of the Easter Eggers is actually an Easter Egger).
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Kept coming up on searches!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Almost anything outdoors - especially kayaking; photography (not that you can tell from my chicken pictures - they don't cooperate!);
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
2 cats and 1 dog (who is infatuated with the chickens and will lay and watch them from his dirt mound).

Poppy and Smidge look like Easter Eggers to me!
Welcome to BYC!

Here is a slightly better picture of Smidge (the one I'm not sure is really an Easter Egger) ... she's smaller and has a tall pointy comb! You can sort of see it in this one. My other EE definitely looks the part (green legs, cheek feathers, tiny comb) but her I don't know for sure if she isn't something else ... as long as she isn't a he, no problem! IMG_9323.JPG

Easter eggers can be mix of anything so there is not "set" rules to their colorings.
How old is Smidge? I'm seeing a single comb?

9-10 weeks (I've had her 8 1/2, not sure how old she was when I got her) ... yes, a single comb - orange and came to a peak but starting to round out now! Maybe she's Brown Leghorn, maybe EE/Leghorn mix ... time will tell I guess! Hopefully a she either way!
