The holes look to far apart from each other to look good. I think you need to scrap that piece of cloth, get a piece make it wider so it supports her better and cut the holes closer together.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got chickens Memorial Day. This is my first flock and overall they seem good/
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have 6, I'm waiting for spring to bring some little chickeys into my life again!
(3) What breeds...
I'd think nothing of them laying under the roost, how old are you chickens? I've heard that having lighting will lead to calucim depelation as they take a break from laying in the winter and forcing them to lay especially if they are young birds. If i were you, when it gets dark around 5-6 9pm...
So today, they had no feed, i give them some every morning, the night before, they ate like animals and i thought oh, they're just hungry. When i gave them their food this morning, they started to eat and they started shaking their heads and one of them made a pip noise then 2 more started it. I...
thank you, i will try everything. She sounds a whole lot better now the noise is gone when she breaths and doesn't cough. Yesterday, my moms friend gave us a bale of straw and she ate a piece and it got caught in her throat maybe. I'm still going to keep her seperated from the rest of the flock.
Ive decided to move seperate her from the rest of the flock. She doesnt have runny eyes or nostrills she just has a really rough breathing sound. It sounds like a little trumpet.
So today when i went outside to change their water and i heard a barky rough noise i thought it was a cough and it kept happening, i found the hen i haven't seperated her from the flock yet or should I? It sounds very deep and rough. I can only describe it like someone with a barky cough...
You're right. My aunt and uncle caught one in time just before their whole flock died. it killed 14 of their 26 chickens. The thing got in through the floor. My uncle went out and got the thing in a bucket and you can connect the dots....
Ah okay. Sounds like a dingo. I've never gone to any other country than Canada. So my knowledge on other places is limited. I also know i used "their" wrong.
I've never been their. Know any native creatures there that have the behaviors of coons? If its not a raccoon, it might be a fox. I've heard of them popping their heads and using their paws a little to pry open a loose door.
Do you have racoons or possums in your area? Try to look around for their bodies or trails of blood. I know i sound cruel for you have to go look for your feathered friends. I have seen animals just kill them all drag them and leave them not far. If there is no blood trail sort of sounds like...
How big is the shed? If it has a door just let the chickens out with that. I recommend that you just put the nesting boxes outside but mine are inside it might be easier for you to put them inside. Put in vents on the top on each side for ventilation. Put the roosts in s draft free area as...
Lazy is right, I gave mine a bath blew dried her and kept her in my garage with a heat lamp on her all day and she seemed fine it was around 10-0 out side but the heat lamp kept her warm. It all depends on your resources.
The browny color that you're seeing is most likely poop. Try to pick everthing off and if the vent closes then shes all good, but if the browny color looks like an egg it might be one. I'd just wait and see if shes prolapes.
Put her in your garage, get a med size tote, get a five gallon bucket make sure its clean take it to your bath, fill it up as much as you can carry then fill the tote up about 4 inches in your garage, if you have any sort of dog crate keep her in there with straw or shavings. You could use...
