Saw this issue tonight with my rooster. Have seen minor black before from pecks but this seems extreme.
Only rooster I have and only two hens. Temps a couple weeks ago in the high teens but chickens have an enclosed chicken tractor. Can't believe it's frost bite.
Rooster is eating and hanging...
I need help. I had removed this hen and one older flock member about 3 weeks ago and have been pampering her and trying to get her healed up and back in better shape.
Well I thought she was much better. I had her in a chicken saddle. Decided to move the 2 hens back to the flock because we are...
I've never put one of these things on. Is this correct or should the top of it be closer to the base of her neck? The top is pretty well even with the top of her wings.
She acts like she isn't comfortable with it.
I've never used one I'm new at this
Thank you all. For tonight and probably for atleast a few days I have moved her and one older hen from the stationary coop to the chicken tractor. Just the 2 alone in the tractor.
I also gave her a syringe of rooster booster poultry cell multi vitamins and she has access to feather fixer high...

Sorry for the poor pictures it was dark

Okay friends. I've had chickens for about 4 years and I've seen eggs with no shells, thin shelled and oblong shaped eggs.
BUT I just found this in the nest box. What on God's earth is that??
Just read your post. She is still very active and healthy acting.
I will just cut out any scraps for awhile and look into the calcium supplements.
Went to the coop tonight and found directly under her in the bedding a perfect yolk and egg white with a paper thin shell.
I have seen her eat the...
Well Sara's health has improved and she is really turning on with the other hens.
However I am not 100 % sure but I don't believe she has laid since she had this egg issue.
She is our pet so I'm glad she is feeling better but surprised she has at least so far stopped laying
