My 2 yr old Delaware got fly strike last year, and it was bad! But I saved her and she recovered. In that year her feathers never grew back. It’s below the vent at the abdomen. Since no feathers grew there, the skin became very thin and Was always red in color.
As of yesterday one of my other...
She still seems lethargic so I brought her in for the night. I’m curious to see if her crop empties. This am it felt doughy
Do you know if bumble foot can make a chicken sick? @Wyorp Rock
Hi
I have a 1.5 yr Delaware that I noticed about 5 days ago look lethargic and feathers were ruffled and didn’t look healthy and active as usual.
I went to grab her and she wasn’t herself. When she was on my lap I noticed on the top web part of her foot was red and swollen. Turned her foot and...
Thanks for all the responses. Raising chickens has been a monthly learning experience for us. I’m only three years in. I’ve saved, raised, and lost a few, but I’m doing my best and love them each very much. :love
I’ve learned so much from this. I had no idea it wasn’t as simple as I thought. As they say... “you get what you pay for”.
I love her no matter what color egg she laid. Thanks for all the reply’s
Oh definitely. I have 17 hens and each are my pet. My daughter loves them to death and spends hours with them a day. I’m grateful to have them healthy and happy
Wow thanks for the info. I had no idea.
But guess I myself didn’t do my homework and thought I was guaranteed a green laying hen. Oh well. I raise them as pets and we sell our eggs. So not super upset. I just wanted all variety of colors to sell.
Agree. I did only pay $6.00 each. If I went to a breeder which I have twice. I payed $50. Each
As for the employees not be very knowledgeable, I’m going to disagree. This place is not Tractor Supply Co. It’s family owned and not a chain.
Ive been give to the owner of the feed store. I will...
I just called the feed store and they were shocked when I told them and said it’s a really rare case. They confirmed it is pure breed, But she feels confident my other two will lay green/blue. I’ll keep this feed posted
Funny but I think she’s been laying for weeks now and this whole time I thought she was sitting on another hens egg, cause I was expecting a blue/green egg to be under her. :D
I got it from a reputable feed store here in Petaluma call Rivertown. She is only 6 months. I got three so maybe one of the three will lay green/blue
