Sorry for the very late reply, but I do have new pictures. It also seems a lot of other chickens were affected by bumblefoot. Most chickens have little swells on the bottom of their feet but I notice one who noticeably limps and her feet and legs have red dots. The old one we still work with and...
Tomorrow when we soak her foot I will get an updated picture. The bump we were worried most about is slowly going away, but now the other bump has increased slightly. The hole from the plug is too small to get out the hard pus inside the foot, and we can’t cut it open without making her bleed.
I have checked the vent area and it doesn’t look pasted, and we don’t have any syringes or droppers we can use. If she survives tomorrow we will buy plastic droppers and try to feed her
I’m sorry but it looks like the chick won’t make it through the night. She’s not drinking the sugar water or Gatorade, she’s not eating, she barely opens her eyes, and she won’t walk. I just tried to make her comfortable as possible and hope she makes it to tomorrow :(.
The way the chick sits makes it so it falls on it’s butt easily. I don’t see any abnormalities with the chicks legs or feet and when she falls over she can move them very fast.
Thank you for helping everyone! We have the situation under control now and she’s getting better little by little. I’m really grateful for all the tip and help in this post!
Hello, we have a 3 day old chick that doesn’t walk or eat. It will just kinda scoot around when it wants to move. It drinks a lot of water when we try to help it eat or drink, but just refuses to eat. We tried to make the food a paste and feed her but she won’t eat it. The chick was left by its...
We recently found a chicken with three bumps on its feet and found out it was bumble foot. We had to leave for 2 weeks and left the chicken in the care of our grandmother. When we got back the bumble foot had gotten even worse. Is there anything we can do or is it better to just put her down...
We just left right now, so I don’t have a picture of the top of her feet, but her toes don’t curl under her feet like that. When she rarely stands and lays down most of the time.
hello, we’ve been treating a chicken with large bumps on her feet. We’ve soaked her in warm epsom salt water and pulled out several plugs, but the swelling hasn’t gone down at all. Should we put her down or just leave her? She’s starting to lift up the right infected foot alot, but both feet are...
we had a hen sit on eggs and 4 hatched. We have a mixture of hens and Lavendar Orpington rooster. All the chicks are black and they stayed black. Is this normal? They also have black legs. Will they lay eggs since they are a mixture
Thank you everyone for your support! Our chicken hatched 2 chicks today, but she’s still on 2 eggs. I think these two eggs are still fertile, so will the broody hen leave these eggs to help the chicks eat and drink, or is it okay for these eggs to be put under another broody hen?
We know one egg has a chick in it, because (very embarrassing) I dropped an egg onto it. The fertile egg wasn’t cracked but it made a peeping noise that I heard.
hello, one of my broody hens is laying on a clutch of eggs and today we heard one of the eggs peeping. My mom says we should crack the eggs open, but we don’t know how long the egg has been peeping. Is it okay for us to break the egg or will a broody hen be able to hatch a egg without problems?
He is about 6 months old, and we feed him nature wise layer feed. He also seems very undominant, getting picked on by our two other roosters and somethings bigger hens. As for photos, will have to post them at another moment, as I am prepared to go to a church supper.
