Here's one and he never got frostbite on his only his comb because of tue size. But I kept him inside from Jan to spring in Maine. Beforebringing him back to the flock he was as hhealthy as could be an looked so handsome compard to now.
I put my chicks out at about q month old with the rest of my older flock an they know when to go in once it starts to get darkk since they can't see. They want to go to a safe place. Not sure if that's the same with ducks.
No it's not. I'm in Maine an it's been very springy for the past couple months. And I had him inside this winter because he had gotten bad frost bitee. and it's not from scratching because I had a hen lose nails but they weren't completely gone. I'll post pics laterr.
I currently have two roosters
At one point had five. One is a four year old Wyandotte the other one Leghorn mix and q year old. The white one is at the bottom of pecking order an had been attacked by the other roosters I had. But a month or so agoo I noticed his nails were bruised purple. Than...
Possible frost bite? I'm in Maine an we had a big could snap for almost a month an my flock that didn't have a pea comb had their combs change from pailish color because they stopped laying an it got cold. Than once that happened some of the tips would be almost white looking an definitely dry...
Looks fairly big. These are my hens. The darker skinner long eggs are from my oldest hen thats 2yrs old now. Austrolp laid nice xlg eggs now lays these. She did stop this winter. The jumbo ones usually have some huge yolks but never double unless its really big. She's laid eggs the size of my palm.
Here are photos today I took of mine. Im pretty certain that the slower feather growers are male. Color of comb have changed and personality. The other one i named Lola who looks just like mom and had two rows of wing feathers at hatch is completely different and much easier to handle.
So far she looks to have rounded feathers. This is my second hatch and my first one I was pretty good at sexing them. The one I kept was the first one to hatch and had two sets of feathers on the wings an was a fast feather grower. These were wyandotte x austrolp an the other one was very slow...
I'll posts pictures when I get home. But I hatched some wynadottes (3). One I know for sure is a girl fast feather grower has wings an tail feathers. The two others are much slower barely seeing wing feathers. Those ones had a single row of feathers on wings unlike the other one. But now one...

Some times I do get huge ones from my other girls I have rirs australop sussex an leghorn. My gold wyandotte lays large eggs but my other hen that looks like a wyandotte with the lace but has a different Face than a wyandotte. Only lays jumbo. I think she might be some type of hybrid. But she...
It was between 60-70% and then there was no sign of movement act so I candled them and the air sac was like half the size of the eggs. All babies were ready to hatch but some how didn't. And thank you. Yes wyndottes have become my favorite an they are hard to get in maine you either have to...
So I made a plastic tote still air incubator an hatched out three chicks.but would of had a total of seven some how my humidity spiked to like 80%and I lost four. I candled them today since they were due Saturday with no peeps or movement. The air sack was almost the size of the eggs. But I have...
