Hi All,
Just butchered my chickens...did I ruin them? I dunked them in boiling water for about 30 seconds. The feathers pulled out nice, but the skin looks cooked as does the first layer of meat. are they still okay to eat? Thanks in advance!
Hi All,
Not sure if there is any possible way to do this, other than making an enclosed run, but I have 36 chickens. The rear yard contains their chicken coop, a 40x60' garden and 23 acres of grapes as well as pines,a bit of forested area as well as covered areas and field.....plenty of space...
they might have given them that stuff that McMurray sells for their first day Gro-Gel. http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/gro_gel_plus.html
Mine had it and their poop was bright green too
Hi all..one of my chicks pooped a normal looking poop of the floor when my son was playing with him...Wiped it up and noticed this normal looking poop has blood in it! Eek...or something red...maybe lining...I am so nervous..had all chicks vaccinated for Cocci and Mareks...but he was holding...
Hello there...sorry for such a terrible experience. I ordered from McMurray and received them on April 5 this year...I did have one DOA that was trampled but zero losses and all were very healthy and still are at 3.5wks old.... I received them on a Monday so they were not in transit for too...
So...anyone have any thoughts, experiences, etc. one way or another about painting the interior of the coop. I have an insulated coop with plywood walls. DH says nay, I say Yay. Please help settle Thanks!
Lol...actually I probably could get them to ontario if the border patrol would look the other way My Best Friend lives in Hamilton/Ancaster area and will be out visiting this summer. But thanks all for your replies, I just don't want to and I don't even know if you can ship older chicks But...
Hi there.....thanks for the info...I think I remember passing that when I head to My Butcher in Wading River...I think that is just after the Baiting Hollow hill? I will stop next time I pass Thanks again for your help!

Hello there...I think you would be okay if you can run the heat lamp at night in there for them...but I might not be your best source for info as I am new to this too! Good luck and welcome~!
Hello there...I am not sure of the name, but if you have a local farm supply store, Tractor Supply, Agway, something like that they have droppers and a mix you can use. HTH...also not sure if you tried googling it...probably a bunch of info out there. Good luck with your little bunnies...
I agree totally...I am planning on keeping about 22 of them. I was just wondering at what age do they require that amount of space? How long can I keep them in about 64sq. foot before I "have" to find plans for the other ones? Thanks!
Lol...meant two Rachel's same first and last name...they mix us up at the pharmacy all the time. lol. I have a 5 year old son and 3 year old daughter. I will get some pictures posted and thanks for emailing your friend. I just got some shady emails from someone on craigslist that wants them...
Lol...too funny! Believe it or not I don't know too many Rachel's only a cousin by marraige, and we have the same exact name and live in the same town!
Thanks! That would be great I just can't believe I have to get rid of so many, and it will be forever until I know hen/rooster as they said I had RIR packing peanuts, but only 3 or 4 look like RIRs. Crazy! Oh well. Time to take some pics and see what everyone thinks!
