He's a little over 4 months old. No white feathers or discolored toes, too early to really tell on mulberrying. If you're interested text me at 928-580-5398 or email at [email protected]
If they were just dry and cracked, I'd say petroleum jelly, or any other moisturizer, mine are rather fond of beeswax and shea butter.
But they doesn't look like very dry and cracked, I think its bumblefoot. But I only have chickens, so I'd wait for more replies.
Ok, good news, I'd like to apologize for the late reply. My eggs are fertile! I've checked them for about 2 weeks after he'd been fully integrated with my ladies. Sorry for the wait I just wanted to ensure I wasn't giving you any doozy eggs because my boy was a bit young and inexperienced. So...
Bumping because I posted at an ungodly hour. She's a bit more active today, but she hasn't passed an egg, with the color of the feces I'm guessing internal laying maybe?
@casportpony @centrarchid @aart
I was planning on during another massage and checking again when I got home. Should I make...
My Easter Egger hen was acting differently yesterday. She jumped on the coop perch and just stayed there for an hour or 45 minutes and then went and squatted in the nesting box like she was about to lay an egg for a bit. I gave her some oyster shell and Pedialyte. Then a warm water bath with...
I'm going to be bringing 3 chicks home for a breeder 3 1/2 hours away. Is there a way to keep them warm in the car? I was thinking a Stanley thermos of boiled water with water bottles I can fill and change out. Heating pads, I was planing to utilize our last 110 days to heat a pad on the roof...
Thanks, I thought so too, I just was worried leaving it might allow it to become a real emergency.
I have wire cage but they haven't been in there since Fairtime. Im just guessing based on what I've read but I think it's a piece of wood I made into a loft, its become splinter though. They...
So I been flying on my own for a while but I have I wanted some advice. While checking my hens over I noticed some scabs on the foot. I decided to give it a few weeks checking frequently, but I wouldn't say that got any worse, still it probably wasn't the best in hindsight. I just didn't want...
Oh, I actually built it myself but I see what you mean. I was using the 5 Sq ft rule and my coop is a little than 50 Sq ft. I definately appreciate the concern, I've seen those 15 Sq ft coops that supposedly hold 5 chickens
I have room my coop, it can hold 10 chickens and I currently have 6. She's been sitting on the golf balls that I use to encourage nesting behavior. I was thinking of selling the extras on Craigslist or the forums and keeping two females for show this year.
Thanks, I was thinking that. It's...
My Buff Orpington went broody. She's been sitting for about a week or so and puffs her feathers, gets off infrequently and such, she doesn't peck or bite though. It is rather warm, about 90 to 100+, she's in the shade luckily. Should I let her hatch some eggs? Will the heat affect it? And...
Thanks for the advice! I'be actually just let them out to free range for that exact reason, hoping they'll find a cool spot. I also have some frozen rinds for treats and plenty of water, which I unfornately can't keep cool while gone but it is about ten degrees less. Thank you again!
She's actually greatly improved, I moved her back outside. It's about high 90s to 105 right now she they have been panting.
No discharge throughout the ordeal and she's stopped sneezing.
That's good to hear, thank you.
I wouldn't be surprised, it's warm inside and out, I wasn't sure if it...
Went out to check on the chicken and found my EE had some breathing issues. She was sneezing rather frequently, about every ten or 15 seconds for maybe 3 or 4 minutes. And they were rather hearty if that makes sense. She's finished sneezing and then went to gasping with her neck extended...
