    Lets talk about goats!

Good for you to find another little darling! This weekend I am picking up 2 new ones, buddies from the same farm. Gotta love those babies.

    Lets talk about goats!

Be on the lookout for a friend/companion. Goats are herd animals and just do not do well alone. It is really in the goat's best interest when sellers indicate they will not sell only one kid to a home without additional goats.

    Tractor Supply Chick Days 2018

When I last visited TSC, I asked if and when Columbian Wyandottes would be coming to their store. The helper just pulled out a list of all the different breeds they would be getting and dates of delivery to the store. Unfortunately, they won't get any Columbian, which have been scarce this year...

    Hello from Austin!

Welcome from Salado! We are lucky to have great chicken-gettin places. In fact, my next babies will be Columbian Wyandottes to be picked up at Ideal Poultry on March 14. Couldn't find them anywhere, so put my name on their waiting list; they called last week to give a pick up date...located in...

    Farm Photography LOT OF PICTURES

It is cold and raining this morning, but for a few minutes you have magically transported me to spring. Your pictures are amazing. Yes, the love comes through...such special animals.

Bottle feeding vs dam raising goats.

Yes, goat's milk is best. Most people in our area say they can't afford it. Goat milk is scarce around here...and expensive. Don't know how much your local milk sells for, but be sure it is pasteurized.

Bottle feeding vs dam raising goats.

Just a few things to think about in planning your feeding process... Since I know that I have a healthy herd, my first choice is to milk mama and feed fresh goat milk (pasteurize if there is a concern about transmitting CAE), that way they do get milk laced with colostrum. If milking is not an...

How much do I feed my puppy?

Sounds like a small serving for a fast-growing, high energy pup. Your bag of puppy food should list the recommended daily amount. Yes, there is a difference in the amount, depending on the contents of the food. You can also Google your brand for the recommended daily amount.

Help! How to cure a broken heart!

Had the same experience and the one left behind (Buffy) would not even come out of the coop nor would she eat very much even when her feed was put inside. Probably both fear and being alone. We got her a friend and put the new one on the roosting bar next to her at night. They bonded almost...

How i built my chicken coop

Great, thank you for your time to translate. Being in Texas where it is so hot in the summertime, just love the deep overhang created for keeping cool. Could not help but smile at all of your rocks. We have limestone rocks everywhere with very shallow soil. It is hard to plant, garden, and, yes...

Adding Fermented Oregano Juice to the Drinking Water.

Fresh herbs can be a bit tricky to ferment, at least more difficult than fermenting dry grains. It is easier if you start by adding some of the liquid from your fermented grains (ready made lactic acid).

Buff Orphington 13 weeks old- Is it a girl or boy?

I have 3 Buffie pullets exactly that age...shorter, fatter, different body angle. Think yours won't be laying any eggs and am surprised he is not beginning to practice crowing.

Adding Fermented Oregano Juice to the Drinking Water.

Well, all of these herbs are good for chickens...and for you, too, for that matter. But, I am not at all sure that you are getting the full benefits of any single one when mixed together and taken all at one time. Am certain there is no research on mixtures. If you ferment food grains (many of...

    This coop?

Well, there are several that might work just to get you started. Some are not very large, but one of those might make a good "starter coop" if you will plan to add a second coop later. You could start a Coop Village!

    This coop?

Ebay has at least a few coops on sale. May be reduced to within your price range. Take a look.

Bottle feeding vs dam raising goats.

For serious ooohs and ahhhs...this little doe will be dam raised.

Bottle feeding vs dam raising goats.

Sorry really did not mean ALL goats, just not each and every one. Some do not have as good a digestive capability.

Bottle feeding vs dam raising goats.

Whole milk or pasteurized goat milk is all that I would recommend. All goats do NOT respond well to milk replacement and by the time you realize there is a problem, the GI tract is messed up. Keep it simple!
