    What color is this silkie?

I lightened the first picture up to make the color more noticeable but I think it made it look a lot brighter orange then it is. Here’s the unedited version.

I originally thought a porcelain as a chick. Then leaned towards a light red Pyle. But now I’m just gonna go with simply Gawwwjusssss

I am just guessing but somewhere in the gene pool was a Pyle color or porcelain. I may be wrong color genetics still drive me bonkers.

    Silkie thread!

I just had to rehome a roo... he was a biter and also attacked kids. I tried EVERYTHING to break him of this behavior. He made all my other chickens miserable. No room for bad boys here!

Hi, I have a few showgirls about 4 weeks old.... all the other ones are very fluffy with pretty bow ties but one is not very fluff at all.. I purchased them from a very good breeder so no doubt on quality I just don’t know much on showgirls.. do they sometimes take longer to get fluffy then...

    Silkie thread!

I agree if you look close you can see I have straw down as well. I just keep the pine shavings fresher. I feel like it also helps with the “chicken smell” I live in Florida and it’s raining one minute and sunny the next.

    Silkie thread!

:highfive: Rowdy runts! i prefer the shaving to straw, tractor supply usually runs a sale on it. It covers a lot of area as my coops and run is pretty big. Just make sure to get shavings that are not toxic to animals. I still use straw in my hen boxes.

    Silkies grey...blue... lavender?

Do you know anything about porcelain silkies? I am purchasing two? Can they only be ideally bred with others or is there any other colors? I’m starting to think blue black and splash are the only ones that can be mixed? I also have two blue partridges and I’ve been told to keep that couple only...

    Silkies grey...blue... lavender?

Okay I have a question (surprise surprise) if I took two of my blue chicks and let them mate.... do I still have a 25% chance of splash or since they have the recessive white and dad was a black roo that will kill it. I know usually if you breed two blue you have the chance of 50% blue 25% black...
