Valiant young rooster brings fight back to assailant

I live in the US, and that just means people are either ignorant, limited in perception, or using words wrong. Similar to the misconception described in this article and how people ask if it's a "rooster or a chicken", when really they want to ask if their chicken is a rooster or a hen...

Valiant young rooster brings fight back to assailant

I was under the impression that these terms referred to two very different groups of animals and that most of the confusion came about due to mislabel-ling over the course of history and a general lack of knowledge in the past, thus the grouping of animals by visual similarities. Bottom line is...

Valiant young rooster brings fight back to assailant

She sounds like a real sweetie! Got any pictures? But nah, as much as I would like to I wouldn't make a good owner, just don't have the Time at the moment to raise a dog properly. The profile picture is just an image I stole off of the vast depths of the interwebs from the meme "doge".

Valiant young rooster brings fight back to assailant

No one likes anyone killing their chickens. Except perhaps at dinnertime. The response was mostly towards the vehement displays of earlier comments.

Going to wave myself in as NorCal, I'm sure a lot of people farther up North would disagree though! Th post of "everything below me is south" was pretty spot on! :gig

    what’s wrong with this egg?

I don't remember quite where I read it, but the amount of salt in their diet may have something to do with it. You mentioned that it was cold enough for the egg remnants to freeze--if your chickens aren't feeling well, bronchitis has also been linked to lower egg production and thin/shell-less...

Valiant young rooster brings fight back to assailant

Sorry for your the loss of Ms. Clucks, it's always painful to lose one when you know them that well. In regards to the posts of this thread, however, possums and opossums are not the same thing, and what attacked the chickens is an opossum. This is also a lot of unnecessary hatred for opossums...
