So my rooster, few nights ago I walked into coop to lock him up and his face was covered in blood. Didn’t think too much of it, we sadly lost our other rooster and there has been a reshuffle of pecking order. Next evening I noticed him in the corner Of the coop, head down. Bit breathing too...
Heating pad looks fantastic! Problem is I am in country Australia and dont think any of our stores in town will have ones I’ll make some calls though, thank you!
So it’s midnight. 1 one week old chick, 4 three day old guinea fowl chicks and four newborn chicks. Heat light globe has blown, second in a week. What have I done wrong? Worried it might of been too low in brooder and they keep knocking it? To keep them warm til tomorrow I’ve got a hot water...
Hey all, have a few roosters in a bachelor coop, and another couple in with the ladies. One in the ladies coop, and few in the bachelor coop, have this funky red skin and no feathers. One has it on both sides, another on its chest. Another on the nobby bit of tail. Worst affected one has it on...
Still all ok, Smash still looks tired and wobbly, but drinking a bit and hobbling. Haven’t seen it ear but it had a bit of a peck at crumble. Eyes still half closed and sleepy. Could it be sick from an infection ?
Looking good this morning... Smash 1 is still wobbly but gets to mum and she’s ken lol three. Got chick starter and water close by to her so up to Floss (the mum) now! Smash 1 is the yellow one... Smash 2.... maybe we call it Crash.... is the grey and yellow and the little ginger one is about...
I had then in the incubator for a few hours tonight and saw some improvement. Fed water and a bit of egg yolk. Still very wobbly. When dark I put them in the chicken tractor with the other chick, popped mum in and all three under her now. Here’s hoping. Like the idea of hatching myself, will...
SH*T. Got home, the other chick is half hatched, half of shell smashed and dirty and cold. One hatched this morning not well at all.... I don't know if it will make it. Mum got out of the rabbit hutch with her two day old baby and I am guessing rejected the other two. So this mornings hatching...
Thanks all, will do tonight! Hopefully safe with mumma, she has a two day old chick and another egg popping underneath her so hoping for a family of four when I get home
Helped hatch 6am this morning, was shrink wrapped but all is well! Yay! Veins all dried up, left egg shell with umbilical cord attached, but chick is not stuck to any membrane. Popped under mum so hope it recovers well and I have a happy fluffy chick when I get home!
