3 Female Laying Pekins
Located in PA about an hour outside of Philadelphia. I have 3 very friendly 6 month old female pekins that just started laying that I would like to find a new loving home for. Not looking to give them away as meat birds. We have a baby on the way and I don't think I can care for them the way...- fe0208

Ok, I'll check her tomorrow and see how she is doing. Does anyone know what the symptoms of aspergillosis would be? Would they be much different than an egg issue? -

Ok, I can try that. Would I feel the egg in her stomach? I did have some oyster shell out for them but then I stopped because it didn't seem like they were bothering with it. -

I will try the pine shavings. I used that when they were ducklings. I don't keep food or water in the house at night but the run is smaller than I'd like and that is where most of the moisture is. The ducks just started laying so I'm not sure who is and who isn't yet. Is there a way to tell if... -

My one duck keeps laying down and she seems to be sleeping a lot more. Her breathing also seems a little heavy. I didn't notice her breathing through her mouth but he was was breathing heavy and her tail was going up and down. I'm afraid it could be aspergillosis because their straw gets damp... -

If I shut off the water at the spigot each day when I am done what are the chances I am going to cause some flooding issues in my house? Everything I have read says you need to shut water off to the outside spigot for the winter. Maybe a cover would help that? -

I thought things were getting better but when I picked her up tonight her one leg is very hot compared to normal and compared to the other foot. Do I need antibiotics or should I try soaking the foot again? I think that foot still had a scab on it. -

Glad the honey is working for you! Is that something you can just buy in a store? I've been soaking my ducks foot every night then spraying it with Vetircyn, Neosporin and Greengoo. I'm not sure if I should try to pick the scab off myself or just keep doing that? I can barely get the stuff on... -

Hmm after soaking her we had he kind of upright and she didn't seem to be flailing too much but I think she was a little relaxed from the soak. -

One of my 5 month old Pekins started limping as of yesterday. She has 2 black spots on the bottom of her foot. We soaked her for 40 minitesin a warm Epsom bath and when we tried to pick at the black it didn't feel like a scab. She's eating and drinking but has been laying down and sleeping more... -

Ughh! I'm not sure what else we can do with drainage. The run just becomes one big muddy mess. They spill their water and then dig big mud holes. -

Cleaning Duck Coop While Pregnant
I know pregnant women aren't supposed to clean up the cat litter box but what about the duck house? Would just wearing gloves be okay or is there something in the poop that can harm the baby? -
