Well, whatever they are, I enjoy getting them. I don't know why this would start all of a sudden though. I'm so tempted to open them but at the same time I want t save them as they are.
So, I have a flock of 2 year old hens. Everybody lays. A couple weeks ago I got this tiny egg. By tiny I mean 1 inch by 3/4inch. Today I got another. What's going on besides my being mystified?
Deffinately don't leave food for the cat. You will soon have all types of trouble with it and other animals. Scare it, yell at it, whatever it takes to make it stay away. Better yet trap it and bring it to the humane society. Feed the animals and you will soon have coyote in your yard like I do.
The grower is medicated. I'm not sure if I can get the unmedicated type right now. The stores seem to have a very limited supply right now. I will look later today. The hen is standing still this morning but the rooster is still laying down. Both are eating and drinking.....and pooping.
Okay, so you are allergic to the chickens so surely you can't keep one. One is just as bad as a bunch. Terrible for the chicken too. If they are not getting proper care you need to find them a new home. It doesn't say where you are. If you post where you live I'm sure somebody would love...
I can't imagine why she's not moving her "uninjured" side aside from the possibility of broken bones. I had a fox take a hen once. I got the hen back. She had puncture wounds that I cleaned with betadine a few times while they healed. She did not want to come out of the house or even off the...
Can anybody tell me what might be going on? A week ago I had a young hen that was laying on her side and having trouble getting up. I thought her pen mates had beat her up so I moved her. Today she was doing it again and her pen mate was picking on her. I took her in and she stood up and ate...
I have a young hen with a strange neck. She's about 7 months old and just a couple days ago she stayed in a nesting box all day. I noticed her but thought it was one in the morning and another of the same breed in the afternoon. I saw her again the next day in the box. An hour later I went...
I have 6 Easter Eggers that are laying. Mostly in the nesting boxes. I found a nest in the garden with 19 eggs. It was well hidden until the weeds started to die off. The hen hasn't been back there since I cleaned it out. I'm not sure where she's laying now. Today I saw a hen sneaking off...
So sweet. I have 6 hens and one rooster. Jack only mates 2 of the hens. He is so sweet. He dances for his girls. He tried to dance for my 13 year old daughter. It was so funny. He's got a bad side though. My 1 year old daughter was playing with him and Regular chicken. He kicked her...
Keeping my fingers crossed that tonight goes well for them. Everybody looked okay at bedtime. Maybe a bit confused since their sleeping buddies are gone. Tiny died, now Keira has to be alone. I'm sure she will miss her. They even laid their eggs together in the same box. It's a strange...
I just found a container of mole poison, it had been chewed open by a racoon or something. I had left it outside the other day, with the cover on tight. I noticed it had been moved but thought nothing of it. I was told that the chicken would have to eat a lot of it for it to hurt them. What...
I would deffinately wait for them to be older. I let mine out when they were a little over 2 months. I put weeds and grass in thier pen to keep them entertained until the big day. While they were staying in the pen I rang a cowbell every time I gave them scratch. They would come running for...
I went to let Jack and the 9 girls out of their house this morning and 3 of the hens were dead. 2 fell off thier roosts and one in a box. All were close to a window. They are 5 months old. Some are laying. No predator got into the house. One hen died a month ago, the day after she laid her...
I have one rooster that needs a home. He was born on March 2, 2010. He was mixed in with the pullets I ordered. He is friendly, and curious. I need him out of here, unfortunately. The town I live in allows chickens but not roosters. Jack will come when called. I will be happy to deliver...
Well, Regular chicken has survived. (That's her name.) The others had to be found after the episode. They were all hiding in the woods. Everybody is staying in the pen from now on. The whole bunch has been very quiet today. Everybody has been on high allert. My best girl has been very...
